Rebuilding Nissan 1989 D21 Double Cabin HardBody Pickup

You can see the old radiator which is also not original of D21 is in terrible condition ,,,,,,,,,,, the new one is from some other car and it need some alteration in fitting and piping to fit it correctly ,,,,,, also the thermostat was absent and this 2L-T engine comes with positive bypass ,,,,,,, which now need to be blocked otherwise water will keep on circulating in water jackets instead of passing from radiator ,,,,,,,, its an old engine and I am not fitting thermostat valve at this time ,,,,,,,,, later I may think about it after checking the condition of this e

[SIZE=3][COLOR=#000000][FONT=Calibri] ,,,,,,,,, engine is Toyota 2L-T , it?sa turbo version but turbo is been removed ,,,,,,,,, gear box haven?t check tillnow but it has some oil leaks at drive shaft seal ,,,,,,,,, surprisingly enginewont gave any black smoke , I try couple of times and push the pedal to themetal to see some black puff from exhaust but nothing ,,,, strange ,,,,, but itis giving heavy roar ,,,,,, roar of air intake ,,,,,, which is really annoying whiledriving ,,,,,,,, today I drive it back home and I feel an head ache because ofthat continuous heavy roar sound ,,,,,,,]

No black smoke while driving is a good thing, isn't it? But it should emit (very little but thick) black smoke on cold start. That's what the experts say is the sign of a "healthy engine". Anyway, I am not an expert, but I like 4WD trucks very much

2.3 L TD23 I4 and 2.7 L TD27 I4 are the original diesel engines of this truck. 2.3 TD23 is best for fuel economy while 2.7L TD27 will make your truck a powerful monster!!!

There are some specialist shops who deal only in seals and O rings ,,,,,,,,,,, in pindi they are in gawalmandi name Noor rubber store ,,,,,,,,, one in sadder with name tall man or I think long man ,,,,,,

well the previous owner was a bulldozer mechanic ,,,,,,,,,, and I see him quite learned about diesel engine ,,,,,,,, I think he has preciously adjusted the injection timing and nozzle popping pressure ,,,,,,, but really its 100% smoke free , I am also surprised with it ,,,,,,,, I use toyota 2D as my daily runner and in spite of having very low millage on add it still gave black puff which is all normal ,,,,,,,, and the previous owner has told me that it cover atleast12 km in 1L ,,,,,,,,,, I said no way this old 2400cc engine can manage that ,,,,,,,,, and he replied you will find it when you use it ,,,,,,,,, till now I haven’t drive it so I can’t actually conform the fuel economy ,,,,,,,,,,,,

Few more things I rebuilt just to make the car In running order ,,,,,,,,,,,, clutch was not working well ,,,,,,,, either it?s a master or a slave cylinder fault ,,,,,,,,, I noticed that there was no master cylinder cap and dirt and moisture was free to go in ,,,,,,,,,,, rebuilt parts were cheap so I rebuilt both of them ,,,,,,,,,,, again it?s a temporary fix and if it wont last then definitely I will replace the entire master and slave cylinder ,,,,,,,

I noticed a fuel leak upon refill ,,,,,,,,,,, it’s a massive heavy tank ,,,,,,,, no way I can find this in new or used parts so only way was to fix the leak ,,,,,,,,,,, I close all the pipes and use a compressor to gave it a slight pressure ,,,,,,,,,, mark the leak and take it for welding ,,,,,,,,,, unfortunately no welder agree to fix it because of safety issue ,,,,,,,,, some ask to flush the tank with water ,,,,,,,,,, if that’s done then I am 100% sure tank will rust out in few months ,,,,,,there are chambers inside any fuel tank ,,,,,,once any liquid goes it , it can never ever be completely dried out ,,,,,,,,, luckily one brave welder agree to weld and patch it ,,,,,,,, fitted the tank and skid plate in this condition and later will paint both of them when I dismantle the entire car ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, but I did cover the welder part with berger auto shield,,,,,,

buy some more parts and tools ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, tomorrow Friday i will try to adjust the front torsion bar suspension ,,,,,,,,,,, increase height from front and drops couple of inches from back by adjusting the leaf springs ,,,,,,,,, off course i cant handle the leaf spring so that job will leave for some road side mechanic ,,,,,,,,, i think it’s not wise to completely level the car from front and back ,,,,,,,,,,, if so then I may need to adjust the load distributing valve ,,,,, anyhow will figure out all that later ,,,,,,,,,,

he has trimmed down the fuel - nothing too special - the engine will be gutless to drive though, the roaring noise will the locked up fan clutch, repair it and dont use the electric fans - they are useless compared to the clutch fan.

btw - in your steering repair you did not show that you measured the input drag torque of the barrel or the drag on the sector shaft.

to empty a tank of fumes, take a pipe and connect an engine exhaust to the fill neck, let it idle for 10 minutes to purge any fumes, After that - there is absolutely nothing flamable in the tank.

With a petrol engine you risk engine damage if you lean it too much, does the same apply for diesel engines?

And please NEVER try to weld a PETROL tank, Diesel tank could survive welding but petrol will explode! It won't cause massive fire, but the blast could kill the welder and people nearby :o

locally used engines are usless,,,,,,,,,,i think its imposible to find some good used TD27 or TD27ti ,,,,,,,,, i will go for some toyota engine ,,,,,,,, may be 1kz ,,,,,,,btw the price you mention is with gear box or just engine ?
