Recommend Oil for Toyota Vitz

20W50 is way too thick with 34,000 on the ODO.

Use 5W40, full synthetic engine oil.

Below is just to share my good experience with Caltex Havoline Fully Synthetic SAE 5W-40.

I had imported Vitz 2007 1.0L in August 2012 with genuine 7000Km on ODO. Drove it fine on the Japanese petrol and engine oil before taking it to Toyota Defence Motors in DHA Karachi. Those fools poured in the locally blended Toyota 20W50 and the drive changed drastically. After going through its user manual (in Japanese) and doing some research I immediately switched to Caltex Havoline Fully Synthetic SAE 5W-40 (Golden packing). It has been more than 2 years, ODO now shows more than 31,000 and the engine is going super fine in terms of sound, oil level, fuel consumption and no deposits inside. I change the oil at around 5-6,000 km interval.

From the beginning there is rare (like on speed breakers etc) and very slight knocking sound on regular petrol that too only with AC turned on which completely goes away on mixing a little Hi Octane.

I just changed the oil today in my 09 corolla gli Mobil 20W50.
What you think should i replace it immediately or should keep it running.Would it cause any harm to engine?i am worried.
Before this i used Genuine Toyota motor oil.

It's better you change it at the earliest if possible.

none of toyota oils are satisfactory either, ill personally recommend 5W-40 fully synthethic in any brand, if you fancy mobil1 then use 0W-40 not this, or if you have must use toyota oil use their newly launched Taglon, its fully synthetic but will cause some drop in fuel economy and performance at the expense of engine cleanliness.

i had a feeling it would be this one,replace it on emergency measure, to whoever told you to get this very oil in your car tell them to refund or keep it for themselves. this is extremely harmful for your car not just because of viscosity but because of its api rating its API SF! not for use for any engine after 1988, i woundnt use this in mehran even. get rid of it asap its obsolete and cause serious damage. its intent for classic cars and i have seen people use it in motorcycles but no car after 1988.

people try to suggest anything just to get rid of it you should take this oil back to where you bought it and get a refund. show them its api rating.

toyota petron is API SH which is also obsolete and their petrol plus is API SL which is better but you car requires API SM at the very least. SN will work as well

The engine oil replacement is of 3.1 litres (with filter replacement) for Vitz 1.0 L / 1kr-fe engine.

For 1KR-FE
3.1L is without oil filter and with oil filter the engine oil capacity is 3.4L.
Most of the people pour 3.5L thinking that slightly more oil is OK.

I think for 1kr-fe engine, it's 3.1 litres with filter replacement; please re-confirm.

if you will pour 3.1L only, then dip stick will show slightly less oil level.
Go for 3.4 or 3.5L oil for 1KR-FE.
I've asked to my friend and he confirmed it will take 3.5L.

Some times it's difficult to crack a taugh NUT.
