Recommendations for buying diamond ring?

I want to buy a diamond ring for my wife. I visited Damas today. They have good collection. I shortlisted 3 rings and can finalize one of them. But honestly, this is my first time buying a diamond jewelry and I am confused if I am buying at the right price or not. Or should I compare with other brands as well? Are there any other brand/shop recommendations (in Lahore)?

1st thing 1st, cross check if diamond is her birth stone or have connection to birth stone. Diamond seldom suits its owner as occasional or daily wear jewelry. If buying for her as insurance investment point of view and skipping to pay zakat not as wearable, then its a different story.

7 points are to be questions from seller.

Cut
Color
Clarity
Shape
Florescence
& The Certificate of origin
- seller will provide in writing all 7 over his own paper with an attachment of origin.

A lot of people in Pk assume that rare gems and fine jewelry is something you just waltz into a store, lay down some cold cash and walk out with it.

With FMCG that sounds great! - with rare gems, precious metals, historic artefacts, art etc. The value of the item is directly tied to its legal status.

There is a trail of paperwork tied to gems and precious stones. without it, its as good as stolen.

Thanks everyone for replying. From this thread I learned about 4Cs of the diamond. Then after more research I found that third parties like GIA is a world wide known organization for diamond certification. If the seller is giving you a GIA certificate with diamond, you can verify it from GIA website: https://www.gia.edu/report-check-landing
and that's how you can make sure that the seller is not making up the values of 4Cs of the diamond, because now a well known third-party is involved for verification.
