BTW how do you inspect CVT fluid if it's good or bad? Can you judge the metal filings or debris in it without lab reports?

You should ask Toyota about it.

Always interesting when people claim they know more than the manufacturer of the car.

Or the actual owners of the car with personal experiences (don’t think you have kept a grande and followed Toyotas guidelines —not Indus’s).

my grande almost 1 lac driven with no change and i would suggest you to not change now at 150k it may do more bad then good thats what the toyota mechanic told me when i inquired for change and he said its fine now and changing may do more harm then good.

Well theres one issue here

The manufacturer only cares about getting it out of warranty period, the max is 100000 kms globally.

E.g. toyota rtv i mention fails with their own specified coolant but fails very slowly and usually by 90000 kms and if left unchecked causes headgasket failures.

Similarly they engineered engines with actual design faults which show up after 90000 kms. But anyway, from experience I can tell you that there is no transmission in the world that doesn’t require fluid maintenance but toyota say otherwise (to get it out of warranty)

But I also know that if you dont schedule maintenance for your equipment, your equipment will schedule itself at the worst time.

I’m all for maintenance, if you look at my previous comments I do say it’s not a bad idea to change CVT fluid after like 60–100k miles (90k - 150k kms).

I just warn against quacks who advise excessive cvtf changes at absurd intervals like 20-50k kms. That’s merely 15-30k miles and then end up damaging their transmissions in the process too, because 99% shops in Pakistan do NOT change it properly.

But every tom dick and harry loves throwing around random jugaari statements like change cvtf at 20k, 30k etc, and most of them have no idea how to change it too.

Then your mechanic probably don’t know much. That is the right time for cvtf replacement in Toyotas, but you have to strictly follow the correct method.

He is probably confusing it with traditional automatics where regular oil changes are advised and going too long without one can probably cause an issue.

If you are religiously following their recommendations, why don't you look at the time based interval as well?

Changing any fluid after 5~10 years is not a good idea. Even the shelf life of fluids is 5 years or less in some cases. The additives in the fluid go bad after expiry and it won't work as intended. This is why time based interval is equally important.

Nope, it won't. Mechanic will do some harm to your car after opening the pan so that he may make 50k of money by changing your transmission.

Do this, open drain bolt and inner filler tube.
Measure the oil drained out in some old oil can, it should be around 1.8-2.2L, add just 50ml more then measured quantity in new oil. Drive a little, nothing will happen. Repeat the process twice. You can do this at any good oil shop.
Total capacity of k313 cvt is 7.5L. you will be refreshing it not changing . Don't open the oil pan at all, you don't need that..
