The vent is always open, it has no timed system, if the oil becomes warm it will purge moisture and expand too, that moisture and air escapes tbrough that
Similarly when it cools and shrinks then air and moisture enter from that vent.
I have replaced hundreds of cv axles on cvt units ranging from toyota to jatco to zf and never did they fail like this, just replenish the spilt out oil after startup because oil will spill out from the axle hole once its removed. If not replenished then the transmission will fail shortly afterwards.
Btw these arent sealed units. And I think all local pk mechanics are screwing up big time when doing an axle job etc.
