Hi everyone,
I'm currently in the market for a new car and would really appreciate some advice and recommendations. I currently own a Daihatsu Boon 2007 (1000cc), and while it’s been reliable, the pickup and acceleration—especially below 30km/h—feel pretty weak to me. I live in Karachi, so traffic conditions are intense, and I’m looking for something that’s better suited for daily use in these conditions.
Here’s what I’m generally looking for:
Engine Capacity: Around 1200–1300cc (preferably not below that)
Seating: At least 4-seater, ideally a comfortable 5-seater family car
Transmission: Prefer automatic, but I don’t mind manual if the deal is worth it
Body Size: Not as small as a Toyota Passo; should be compact enough for city driving, but not too small that it struggles on roads or highways
Budget: Around 22 lakhs max (not looking to go over this)
Model Year: Minimum 2006–2007, nothing older due to parts availability and reliability concerns
Condition: Should be in good condition, no history of rash driving or major repairs
Features (Optional): Android panel, alloy rims—good to have but not a must
I've heard decent things about the Honda City 2006–2008 range, and while I’m not too inclined toward the Suzuki Swift, I’d still consider it if it genuinely fits my needs well. I'm also open to imported cars—even if rare or hard to find—if they offer long-term reliability and value.
The main thing is reliability. I want something that won’t give me major mechanical issues for at least 3–4 years. No constant trips to the workshop. I need peace of mind more than anything. I also want to learn what key things to check when inspecting a used car—how to judge engine health, transmission smoothness, lights, body condition, etc.
So, if you’ve recently bought a car around this range, or have owned something that fits what I’m looking for, I’d love to hear your experience. What would you recommend—or not recommend? What should I keep an eye out for when shortlisting or inspecting cars?
Thanks in advance!
