Recommendations regarding Running period for new car

Assalam-u-Alaikum
I hope you are people are enjoying best of your health. In Sha Allah I will soon recieve my Honda City. As this is my first new car I need to know every thing regarding break in period for new car. Should I drive the car in lower RPM without ac?

Your car's engine break-in is till 1000KM and brakes break-in is usually 300KM. It is preferred to keep your RPM's below 3 - Anything in excess for a short period of time (such as: Overtaking someone) - won't damage your engine though try to keep the load to a minimum, use the AC if you want with minimum load.

It is always a good idea to search thoroughly before posting a question to any forum/website. Anyways, I kept searching for months for the same question as yours and asked questions on this forum as well.

My research concluded that no one knows your car better than the manufacturer. Strictly follow the instructions in the user manual of your car if you are this much conscious. And the City's owner manual states only 3 instructions on page 93 (for first 1000 km except 1st one) i.e.
* Avoid hard braking for first 300 km.
* Avoid full-throttle starts and rapid acceleration.
* Do not change oil until the scheduled maintenance period.

The only thing extra I kept in mind was to NOT MAINTAIN A CONSTANT SPEED. Always accelerate and decelerate slowly and try not to drive steady. That helps to seal the rings better.

For the first 1000km the car should be driven slowly with rpm approx 2.5 to 3
The pistons will take time to get settled
no full throttle
and remember to change the oil on 1000km due to small metal pieces present in the oil these Honda people will not change your oil but service will be free.

I got my new car last week and its prosmetic, if i just use soft foot, it never goes above 2.2k rpm even when im at 100-110kmph.

How can be you so sure to change oil at 1000 KM!

When Honda Atlas , doesn’t really recommend you anything like at 1K!

Oil change is much better to be done a 1000 km. The reason behind it is to see if there are any abnormalities and get the residue out.
In my opinion it is necessary to remove the metal particles that were rubbed off the engine parts during the break-in period.
If these metals are not removed then they can cause faster wear in the engine
(they act as abrasive materials)
Usually, dealers will do everything that's indicated in the warranty booklet for 1000 km
WELL ITS NOT RECOMMENDED.
And many are not in favour
But required to keep the engine pepped-up.

Well!

I am not saying i don’t agree with this !

When i bought swift back in 2015. Suzuki changed the first engine oil i guess break oil aswell!

But that was recommended by Suzuki!

Why aren’t honda recommending Oil hange at 1000 KMs ?
I have this question in my mind.

I just went for the first month (at almost 780 KMs )service at Honda Point and they didn’t changed the oil , i asked them “you wont change the oil they said no!”

And will this effect the warranty if i take my vehicle tomorrow to Honda Again as it is almost going to hit 1K tomorrow , Will the change the oil ? By going against their recommended preodic maintaince

I dont think so as Honda avenue was not willing to change the oil of my City and they said that they wont go against that periodic maintenance
So got it changed by my mechanic's shop they didn't even get a clue on 5000 km maintenance that I changed my Oil
Choice is yours

Just do what the manufacturer says and you will be fine
if anything goes wrong You have a WARRANTY.
as for the metal particles.explain what is the oil filter for ,if it cant filter those parts out

Honda dealership say no for change oil at 1000km change it at 5000km.but its personal satisfaction and better for change at 1000km..no warranty will be void as we are using Hondas genuine oil..I must change oil at 1000km..
