Recommended Engine Oil for 1GD 2.8 Toyota Hilix Revo

Engine temperature is always much higher than even sibbi summers...nunber after W is not the temperature..its viscosity..ur engine is well suited for 5w-30..

5w30 is recommended as per the manual. But now the question comes which brand? Mobil1 or mobil1 delvac ? Diesel oil or gasoline one? Because as per earlier discussions in thread its said diesel oils have more additives and higher ash value which is not good for modren diesels.

Another favourite for diesel engines is delo MGX but that is 15w40 which is not suitable

I think delvac is mobils economical range for diesel . mobil1 is the premium expensive one.. the choice somes to affordability and usage perhaps

You are being naive. Otherwise everything about oil Viscosity grades vs. weather connection is extensively explained on these forums.

If you read your cars owners manual with little care, the required engine oil for your car is API CF, CF-4 or ACEA B1, B3, B4, B5 quality with recommended viscosity 5W-30. Stick to these and you are good to go.

Further, generally fully synthetic oils are better than semi-synthetic and semi-synthetics are better than mineral oils.

An xW-40 oil will have generally same viscosity at engine running temperatures. So there is essentially no difference between a 5W-40 or 15W-40 when engine is hot and at running temperature.

But a 5W-40 is always better than 15W-40 since it will give you a lower viscosity when engine is cold and a resultant better cold start and less engine wear during warm up period.

Also, all 15W-40 are mineral based oils while almost all 5W-40 are synthetic oils. So 5W-40 are inherently better oils than any 15W-40.

If it helps, I have been running the fully synthetic Mobil Delvac 1 5w-40 for a year now and it’s been performing great so far.

In short: Get the fully synthetic Mobil Delvac 1 if the pocket allows. Otherwise, the Delo 15w-40 mgx400 is affordable, widely available, and good to go for ~ 5000kms.

Also as explained above, a 15w-40 and 5w-40 will have similar viscosity cst@100C when the car is running. It’s the cold temperature viscosity that is lower in 5w-40 and hence better cold start protection. Plus being a fully synthetic oil it has a longer life too.

Mobil Delvac 1 5W-40 is an excellent oil. This is probably only diesel specific synthetic oil available in Pakistan.

I have used it in my hilux vigo champ until about 80,000 kms. These are about 8 oil changes.

But now it has become prohibitively expensive after "tabdeeli". Now I am thinking about switching to Delvac MX 15W-40. It has similar characteristics but is mineral base and lighter on pocket too. Delvac 1 5W-40 is a heavy oil and if you see the specs Delvac 1 and Delvac MX has almost similar viscosity numbers. Both of these oils here are imported from Singapore.

In Pakistani oils Caltex Delo Gold 15W-40 has similar specs as Delvac since it is also API CI-4. Delo MGX400 having API CJ-4 specs is better choice for vehicles with DPF or with bit more sophisticated exhaust system treatment which is not available in Pakistan spec 1GD engine so essentially not required.

Any comments about Mobil 1 0W-40? It is API CF and ACEA B3/B4.

So what is the verdict on toyotas new 5w30 semi synthetic oil ? Grade seems fine as per the manual and price of 3800 is appealing but no idea of specs

Sir semi synthetic doesn't seem a logical purchase...fully synthetics are much better. Imc must be on weed launching a semi synth at this time

My dear friend toyota has CI-4 rating oil named as dezon plus 20w-50 which is some what better than dezon and blended by MAL(Mobil) pakistan. But they don't have ot either at their showrooms. Funny​

My dear friend liqui moly and mobil are premium brands. But you can achieve same performance with less price if you use Profi car Oil. It is from germany same as liqui moly and less in price. I will recommend profi car instead. Mobil is far more expensive

Got mobil super 5-30 realised later it was semi synthetic 🧐. Yet to get it changed

Its march 2020. Revo is the currently the best seller for IMC, booking time of almost 3 months, but so unfortunate, after sales services are so poor, i m here back again, using Revo 1Gd for almost 2 years now. I am so far unable to find one final engine oil for my car. Toyota dealership still selling me 20w50 toyota dezon engine oil. Time has passed and this engine is running all over pakistan in numbers.
Has anyone so far found a decent after market engine oil for Revo/fortuner 1gd engines? I m ready to spend any amount for the best engine oil available. Waiting for suggestions.

I am in Karachi. I ve been using Mobil 1 Delvac 5w40 since the start. I bought two 20L pails so I got a better per litre price. Let me find the contact number of the oil depot for you

What is your oil change interval? Using Mobile Delvac1 5w40 in revo for 10,000 kms ?

My running is not that much. So I change it at around 6000 to 7000km because that takes like 8 to 10 months for me.
