I just brought a nice set of wheels from a fellow pakwheeler.
When they arrived there were many scratches on the lip and the paint wasnt in a good shape also so i decided to repaint and polish the lip.

Things required
1. Lots and lots of time
2. 3M waterproof sandpapers. Other brands will work also but why cheap out in this.
You need 100,150,180,220,320,400,600,800,1000,1500, 2000
You can also leave a few depending on the condition of rim but i wanted a perfect finish.
3. Paint remover. I used silver sand because have a good experience with it and it dosnt harm much. Mater paint remover can eat through your hand.
HAZARD
THIS MATERIAL CAN CAUSE SEVERE BURNING IF GET IN CONTACT WITH HAND AND EYES. APPLY WATER RIGHT AWAY. IT CAN GIVE RELIEF BUT NOT QUICKLY.
4. Lemon max bar or any other dishwasher to clean the rims.
5. Metal polish ( havent decided yet as its very far away step but i have MAG's metal polish in my mind)
6. Masking tape
7. 2 inch paint brush.
First i cleaned the front, back and outerside with dishwasher throughly as it had alot of dust.
For the sake of this DIY and to save myself from making same mistakes on all four i started on 1 rim only.
Starting point pics

Gave it a lot scrubing with lemon max. Dishwasher removes all kind of dirt and grim

Then dried it with a cloth and started masking.

Now i used alot of layer of tape but the paint remover still got pass it but that not an issue because i was going to repaint it anyway but if somebody dosnt plan to do this then i think old xray can block it. Cut an xray and tape it carefully but i am not sure on this.
Now carefully open the paint remover and pour a small amount in a plastic bowl or anything plastic.

I was not wearing gloves because i have paractice of this stuff but please wear gloves.
Applied a thin layer of paste on the lip to remove clearcoat. Also applied on the paint in between the spokes. Left it for 15 mins
This is the outcome.

After this i used a metal strip to remove the paint.
It was a bad idea i learned after 5 mins. Next i washed it all with thinner. You can also use water for washing.
Applied another layer of paste and again waited.
After 20 mins washed it with thinner again and also cleaned the brush with thinner.
After that i again washed it from all sides with dishwasher and scrotch brite. When it dried i started sanding.
Started with 100 grit. It helped in damage and curb areas. After that 150 grit and i wasnt satisfied to again went back to 100 and then again 150.
Result after 100

After 150

Spent 3 hours sanding so took a break.
Started with 180 grit.
Progress after another 1.5 hour

That was it for today.

I have only done 100, 150 and 180 yet. Will take more than 2 days of infinite sanding for single rim to reach 2000 grit and my desired finishing. This requires alot of hard work.
