Registration Number of Choice

Guys,
does any one know if we can choose registration number of our own choice ? For example if i want to have car registered with number ( 485 ) . I know there are golden numbers which are auctioned. But if your desired number is not golden, can you obtain that? If yes then what is the procedure?

I guess you have to pay extra for the number if it is getting into any category for selective numbers

If the number is a common one and you want it, you can request the staff there and they may allot it without charge. Just make a humble request!

@Yahyujee You mean in excise office while applying for registration ? At that moment i have to request?

Actually i dnt have prior experience of registration so i thought we just apply by filling a form and then its upto them later on what number they allot us

they give you a choice of what number you want from a certain series in punjab.
In Isb and KPK, they ask you to wait for your desired number to come by series or pay a little extra and get it.

In which city, province you are? As far as Islamabad is concerned you can get this number without any charge.

Only these numbers are issued after paying the prescribed fees and filling a rupees 20 form before you go for submitting application.

For 485 you can request while submitting the application docs at the window. If it is not available in the current ongoing series, the clerk may send you to the computer section upstairs where after checking in computer data official will write with pen on your file that number is available in next series and it will be reserved for you and you will get it after few weeks.

They call special numbers in Islamabad and here is the list and charges:

@autophile thanks for detailed reply. Yes now i understand. So you mean if LEA-20 is ongoing and 485 is available they can give me otherwise they willcheck for next series like LEB-20 and can reserve for me..

I guess so, may be someone here in this forum from Lahore may know better, but this is how it works in Islamabad. I got two special numbers on payment and two ordinary three digit ones on request for free.
