REGULAR vs SYNTHETIC Engine Oil - in terms of milage

All the above mentioned vehicles DO NOT necessarily require Synthetic oil as per their manufacturers' recommendation.
A manufacturer spec reliable brand of mineral oil (regular oil) would be as good as anything. Make sure you change your oil-filter on every oil change. Dont take the risk of draging the 700 ~ 800 ruppay wala oil filter upto 10k (or two oil changes) in Pakistan.

Some 3s dealers like honda point only keep synthetic oils.. and the 3s dealers are under strict supervision of the co. N hv to follow all the rules n regulations as ordered by the manufacturer

A relative of mine uses synthetic oil (honda oil) in his civic'09 from day 1 and has done 75000km in it.. nothing has happened to his car , i think its in better condition than my civic'09 run 55000km on mineral oil...

i did not say that Synthetic oil is BAD for your car's engine.
Usually the Owner Manuals of the cars you mentioned will tell you about the API, SAE and ILSAC specifications of your required lube.
However, the manuals DO NOT say that you MUST use synthetic oil.

Again in Pakistani conditions (quality of the product and environment) i would not risk using oil-filters beyond 5 ~6k kilometers.

a regular engine oil needs to be replaced at 4-5000kms , but ive come across a thread here where people say a SYNTHETIC ENGINE OIL can do 10,000km and some even said 12-13,000kms.. is this true??

i use honda oils (whatever the brand is) , the regular oil costs around Rs1800 and a synthetic for Rs2200.. with a price difference of just Rs400 , how can u get double mileage! and if we switch from regular to synthetic , does the oil filter needs to be replaced aswell??

Companies have found the different ways of marketing to sell their products (oils).

Examples

If the oil is 5% Synthetic and 95 regular, the company can advertise or write it as "Synthetic Oil". And people will buy it by considering its Synthetic oil. But infact its only 5% synthetic. But who knows this fact ??

If the oil is 10% Synthetic and 90 regular, the company can advertise or writ it as "Synthetic Oil". And people will buy it by considering its Synthetic oil. But infact its only 10% synthetic. But who knows this fact ??

SIMILARLY, DIFFERENT COMPANIES USING DIFFERENT TERMINOLOGIES TO ATTRACT CUSTOMERS. (Hope you will find it logical).

Now,

If we are living in US/Canad then just use fully synthetic oil of Mobil-1 and run your car upto 20K literally & blindly and without any doubt.
And If we use same oil (mobil-1 of made in USA) in Pak. then we can drive upto 18~20K also. Without having the fear of any internal engine damage. Conditionally oil filter has to be changed after every 5K max.

But whats happening in Pakistan,

Havoline Synthetic oil mileage is 5K (most usual)
Shell's synthetic oil mileage is 6K (most usual)
Caltex's synthetic oil mileage is 4K (most usual)
ZIC's synthetic oil mileage is 8K (most usual)
Performa's synthetic oil mileage is 8K (most usual)
Etc.
Etc.
Etc.

So, we never know that which oil has what percentage of synthetic portion !!!

Original fully synthetic oil of Mobil-1 (made in USA) is tentatively Rs. 1500~1800/L (If any doubt then check it from Amazon.com)
Whereas the synthetic oils available in Pakistan are Rs. 550~700/L

I'm using Mobil 1 0w40 with Honda OEM oil filter ,, get both changed at 7500 kms I would say its a safe limit in my opinion ..

while i was at caltex for oil change to get havoline formula,i saw a synthetic oil as well n asked the oil changing guy,he said civic is fine with formula n doesnt needs synthetic

If Pakistani showroom service centres are so awesome why dont they use proper sealants on their engine jobs or proper lubes for their brake jobs.

If you buy american packed chevron havoline 5w40 (full synth) and use it in Pak will it work the same as Pakistani havoline 5W40?
