Not too sure how many of you owned it.. how many still have it. But its special for me as it was my dream car when i was a child and not only this but it happens to be the very first car which i bought from my hard earned money.. I remember when i was about 5 years old, our neighbors bought a yellow colored 2 door one (also known as runabout) & I use to admire it a lot. I also have an original brochure of this car with me even today & I was so fond of this car that it use to be pasted on my bedroom wall too .. This thread is all about the great little Charade G10.. Lets share everything about it here.

approximately 90,000 charades were built during 1978-1982.. the pre-facelift (1978-80) had round headlights while it was face lifted in 1980 with some interior improvements & changed square head lights & redesigned tail lights. the way most people have kept this car around the world even today is really astonishing.. even after nearly 30 years of its life this car is serving in perfect working order in most parts of the world.. gives me courage to own this car again (whenever there is a possibility)

the key to maintain any car is the availability of its spares.. the spares of this particular model are a bit hard to find but they are always available in some specific shops.. as compared to other charade models (G11 onwards) spares a bit expensive but this car performs just like any other charade.. it has a solid heavy body which gives u a nice controlled feel over the car, superb acceleration, great driving position & was a proper blend of new and old technologies.. it use to have heavy body and chrome door handles like most 70s cars, but was a front wheel drive car backed by 5 speed manual gearbox like most 80s vehicles... overall if one can find a well maintained ride today, im sure its gonna be fun to own (Y)

the charade G10 made some historical wins in the 80's rally in Argentina & Ireland... the 2 door runabout became quite popular in most parts of the world..

Hello

It is absolute fantastic to see my own Charade here.

But much more plesure for me that you have defined the Charade G10 as a "cool car".

I have with some friends a community for Charade G10 owners on the web at www.charade-g10.net

The most G10 Charade are running currently in southern America (chile and Argentina) where we also have some memebers of, and at Argentina there is also a very big community for the G10 owners at http://www.charadeclub.org/foronew/index.php. Booth forums are specified for the G10 and G20 (NOT G200!) Charade's. The G20 is a specific south American car, it is complete the same then the G10 but with a different engine (engine code "CD") running with ethanol fuel (83 octan). This engine is also a 3 cylinder engine but it is more like the ED engine from the Mira/Cuore with 847ccm.

Do you really want to get a G10 Charade? Currently I know 2 cars for sale. One in Hungary and the other is from Poland.

A lot of work is waiting for the new owner, but the price is very hot (~107,- Euro)

The tail lights are from the facelift modell, the front mask is "self builded" and there are no pictures from the interior, but it have a towing bar.....

If you really would like to get one of this I can help you if you want.

But better you get a car from Argentina or Chile, this cars have air condition, the european models didnt have it.

The Charade with the red interiour is from UK it's car of my friend with I found our community.

welcome here bro... i googled the G10 charade and amazingly most of the images displayed are from your website... you have done an amazing job in gathering the information and more importantly developing a community for the G10 owners. i guess i downloaded the navy blue one from cardomain but i never knew it was yours anyway i sold mine in year 2005, its actually a tragic story how i blindly trusted a mechanic who told me to sell the charade off and bought me a suzuki fx instead, it was one of the worst decisions of my life. I currently own a Suzuki Cultus SF310 as displayed in my avatar but the G10 charade has always been my first love one day if i can afford another car, i will buy this sweety again

the restoration video is cool (Y) hats off to you for bringing this gem back to its glorified days

there are many G10 still running in Pakistan, i can get a fairly decent car here too but the problem is that currently i cannot afford to have 2 cars at a time while the other problem is that the spares of G10 are a little hard to find here, G11 is much popular here.

Around the world, all G10 owner have the same problem to find spareparts. But there are so many parts you can get from a G11 or G100 Charade. Specially the engineparts. My own G10 now have the carburator from a G11 Charade. The specs from this two carburators are complete the same (28 and 32mm diameter of the primary and the 2nd stage).

Is there any possibility to get a number how many G10 Charade are still on the road?

I would also be very happy if you can help me to find more pics from G10 in Pakistan! I would like to post this pictures then on our Homepage (www.charade-g10.net) or if you want you can put it online, you can register yourself on our Forum and I will enable your account as soon as I can (we had so many spamusers currently that I must set the enabling of a new account to administrators agree, so sorry for that).

I have to add some informations

The first Charade Daihatsu was called "Charade 1000" it never leaves Japan. So this model has the mirrors on the front fenders, AND the flashers are down under the front bumper! This car was build from 1977 till 1978.

The last G10 leave the factory in Osaka in December 1982, so they are street registered in 1983.

And the Charade G10 has 3 different gearbox options.

4 speed manual, 5 speed manual and a 2 speed semi-automatic Daimatic gearbox.

My own G10 has a 4 speed manual gearbox, the 4 and the 5 speed gearbox have the same gearbox chassis, the 5th gear is only "attached". Only the gear box shaft is longer.

The 3 door versions are never sold in UK and Australia, in Ireland they assemble the cars for the Irish market my a company called "O'Shea's Ireland LTD".
