Remote starter?

do ppl have remote starters installed in the cars in pakistan ? just curious.

I've seen it once. In a merc the guy was standing at a shop and then he started the car before he left the shop using a remote. Cool system. But now they have introduced the GSM one. You can start and locate your car on your mobile.

hmm well they systems are pretty cheap here now. they're charging about $150 for it to be installed. http://www.directed.com/is the website.
Not sure if the electricians there are capable of installing the systems yet. one pre requisite is that the car have auto transmission.
any specialty shops who are installing these that we know of ?

remote starter are good for cold climate where you do not have to get out of the house to start the car in the morning. But otherwise it is just a novelty.

Its available here for 6000 rs..its probably chinese thats why its not much expensive..

here in pak with old cars abd even new suzukis and even my gli ... one has to press the gas pedal also to start the car...
are these remote starters smart enough to do all this and one thing more do they check that the car is nuteral or not...

well remote starters are usefull for cold and hot weathers cause u can preset the heat or ac .and when u come out its all ready.also they istall them in automatics majorly.my friend has one in his 5 speed and he has to make sure its in nutral and he also had to by pass something to put it in 5speed.but one time his brother used the car and left it in gear.when he started the car to go out the house he found the car in neighbors yard he was pissed.
and also not tru that someone will steal your car if u start from remote starter cause the car is still locked and u still have to put the key in and turn it and press the brake to keep it started .also these starters are timed so u can chose how long u want yor car to b started for.

remote starters work better with fuel injected cars. with suzuki's etc where you either have to pull the choke or press the pedal, they wont work. basically you're just remotely turning on the ignition and cracking it. doing the key's job but remotely. other than that the system itself is pretty much dumb electronics.
and yes i agree for 0deg temp here these days remote start is great. might not be that helpful in pakistan, and im sure ppl wont like to have their car run on a/c while they sit inside. petrol is expensive !

lol. well brother, at the moment I'm single. will be for another couple of months till I visit Pakistan this summer InshaAllah. So let me enjoy the gadgets while i can !
I'm selling all my cars here before I move InshaAllah. It's funny how the ppl who come to buy the car have no clue on how much I have invested. But as they say, money spent on upgrades is money wasted...

I got one ther in KHI, with all wiring, equipment nd booklet brandnew boxpack nd a VHS cassette aswell in which the whole procedure of hookin the system is been mentioned.

all the systems here come with the booklets and all but it takes atleast 5 hours to tackle the wirings even when the professional shops do it. I didnt even bother doing it since the installation is free.
Good systems cost around $200 or so. some expensive ones with range of upto one mile are around $800. lekin even the chinese made ones should do the trick.
