Remove Tree gum/gunk from car

Does anyone know how to remove tree gunk/gum from car ?? My car was parked under a tree and now the roof is filled with tree gunk/gum...

Wash it, that sap is water based.

I had mine parked under i think a pine tree (or similar, i don’t know the exact name) and it was horrible to take off. Kind of like a dried up glue which cant be washed away no matter what. 3 ways i tried to take it off and all worked.

1. Nail polish remover, very risky as it may take your clear/paint off so you gotta be VERY careful with it. Just don't try it is what i meant
2. Compound. It works, you have to work hard for it but it works
3. Reheating/warm panel lol. My car was parked under the hot baking sun of the summers and it sofetened the sap/glue/whatever which was then taken off by a wipe of a cloth. Wont work if the sap has hardened like a rock.
4. If you can source IPA, that’ll do the job too.
5. There probably are some sap removal products in the market if everything else fails.

Try a steam wash as well. Steam will heat the gunk and possibly wipe it away with pressure. All the best. Steam is the least damaging option imo. All the best.

I have found that you can use a car wash soap along with plastic bags to let the soap dwell without evaporating. This softens it.

This is so ingenious. One also might use cling wrap for this which is also a plastic sheet.

Cling wrap is no fun and is a pain in the butt to work wirh, i prefer giant plastic bags cut open to become large panels or wake up early on a dewy morning (the dew softens the sap) and wash the car.

You are right, I left aside the fact that a roof or car is a big surface area and cling wrap will cling to other things before clinging to the affected surface. Plastic sheets are sturdier.
