Replacement of Clutch plates of Cultus

Asslam o Alaikum guys. Yesterday i went to lahore and when i was coming back to Faisalabad from Motorway on my Cultus 2007 (non efi). I feel some smell from engine like carbon thing is burning. Anyways i slow down my speed and when i reach in Faisalabad then i go to a workshop immediately and the guy told me i need to replace the clutch plates as installed one has finished.

Then i go to my mechanic today and told him the same thing. I just want to get information from you guys as you are expert one and i dont have much knowledge, my mechanic told me he will bring the gear box to Kharadia and they will repair clutch or finger plate and they will refit it. Please guide me should i replace (change) the clutch plate or its better to repair the old one. I need your urgent suggestion because i have to go to mechanic tomorrow for this. Thanks in advance.

In case if i should change the clutch plate then please guide me about price and brand and from Faisalabad where i can get the good one.

No need to give your gear box they can take out the clutch plate easily. and a New clutch should cost you around 3500 maximum with installation. it also depends on condition of your clutch wither to replace it or to repair.

pressure plate's fingers can be repaired but not the faceplate.
Clutch plate's leathers can be changed but not the inner splines.
Replacing both is a long term satisfaction else repaired set is also useable.
Mechanic will pull out the clutch assembly between engine and gear box then assembly be repaired at clutch plate repairing centre.

Thanks to both of you. Its changed with Finger Plate + Clutch Plate today. I got Kabli one for 2400 from Lari Udda. Now car pick is perfect. Thanks for your help

Here are the numbers;

1)- 1 Clutch Bearing Japanese cost 900 (Malaysian was available for 600)
2)- Finger Plate + Clutch Plate 2400 (Kabli one while Jap. made new set is for 5800)
3)- Mechanic Fee 1000
4)- So total cost of this process was 4300

BTW What is the mileage of your Cultus?
The clutch plates last for a good 90,000 kilometres.
IMO you should also change the pressure plates of your car along with the clutch plates.

Its 90000+ now but i have already changed both finger and clutch plates and its working fine now elhumdulillah

Why the hell did you get the Kabli one. Brand new would have cost you only 1000 more. Clutch plate is a major repair work and you never install an already used clutch plate. For peace of mind, already install a brand new one.

Well, I had been trying to gather a data on clutch plates, so this passed in front of me where a gentle men has preferred to install a Kabli clutch on this car. I find it very odd that normally clutch plates are reinstalled in car once or twice the cars life time so it should be brand new but why people prefer to install a kabli one.

Aoa. I'm writing it for new readers. New clutch or refurbished one both will endup burned of u are inexperienced driver. Driving a car and reaching ur favorite spots on time doesn't make u a good driver. A driver must know the mechanical theory before wheel. I have experienced refurbished clutch plates lasting about 70000km on 2005 Honda city. I remember in 2020 may or June I visited methu khan ahata rawalpindi sadar to replace my engine as it was consuming some oil and car was knocking on loads and AC. With Allah's help I found a very good engine in just 26000 and I paid 6 thousand on top for keeping my old engine as well for spares. Mechanic was a young pakhtoon he was very over confident. He would stand on the headlights and front grill for his comfort. I litterly warned him to not stand on the headlights. But he said if I break them I'll give u new one. I was like no I don't need any new just leave them alone but he didn't listened. He opened the bolts on gear from all sides and stick in the screw driver to saperate the gear from the engine instead of removing the complete engine and gear. While he was inserting the screwdriver in between gear and engine. Cars engine got stuck. He started using unnecessary force with his tools eventually he broke the clutch from one side. Luckely I heard the treek sound of something got broke. When he removed the engine I got the chance to inspect all the components for damage. All of a sudden when I saw the broken clutch. I called this idiot to show the damage he said I didn't do it. Than I showed his the broken pieces on ground he said ustad ge apka kaam he Kar Raha Tha humara ghalti nahi ha or yeh clutch chal Jaye GA. I grabbed him by neck and told him son u will pay for the new one or else u arnt going anywhere. He called all the hustlers to muscle me but I had lost it already I told everyone who ever tryna act as his father will also be nominated in my police report. He has to pay the damages since he was being careless by jumping and standing on the head lights I asked him to stop and he said dw I'll bring u a new one. Now he will bring a new one inshallah. Than everyone trying to resolve the situation and one guy suggested for a refurbished one since my clutch was already in bad shape they said this clutch doesn't deserve a brand new one but a similar one. I agreed and he brought this fcc clutch which looks 100% like a new one. The guy told me of this last for 6 months samajhna iska kaam pora ho giya but it has been an year still working nice and I drove my car upto 70000.
