Hi,

I needed a budget car.So i searched for chinease and malaysian brands.There are two chinease brands in pakistan one is Cherry and other is geely, which i own one.It is 1.6 with with ABS and EPS.Proton is malaysian but it lack in finishing.Geely is the only chinease brand in pakistan with good finish.

Proton are still available. One showroom is on your right when you cross Jam Sadiq bridge (on Malir River, also called Mill Area bridge), on first U-turn. It is just beside Allied CAT, which are big dealers of Caterpillar gensets and construction machinery in Pakistan.

About 6-8 months back i was looking for a car in lahore. while visiting showrooms i saw a geely 1300. its model was either late 2007 or 2008 but it was still as good as new. the final price given by dealer was 4,50,000/- i had two mind whether to go for it or not ... as the new was around 750k then. But at the end i dropped the idea, afraid of its resale. so do keep in mind the resale prospects of this car.

it looks nice but the finish is cheap specially the interior, thats my observation maybe others donot agree.

Proton is Malaysian. It also owns Lotus.

Checked with Proton Karachi. According to them they are planning to open showroom in Lahore within 4 months. Also, they will introduce the New Saga in December. The old Saga costs 7.20 Lac and 7.65 Lac with Cng.

I agree on the "finishing" problem of proton...but the parts are available in the market at cheap rates...plus saga is better looking than GEELY. and you get 3 years of warranty on parts from the front bumper to the back!

A while back I had a chat with Geely dealers about the cheap looking interior plastic on the dashboard. They said they do it because they want to bring down the cost of the car. The Chinese put standard plastic in the car but Pakistani dealers requested to downgrade it to save costs.

I guess same is the case with Proton
