Hello everybody !
Its been more than a month since I last updated the thread. Khair these day, I have some confusion in my mind. So here I am, to share my query with you guys & I will gladly appreciate your valuable SUGGESTIONS.

So, its been more than a year since I swapped the engine (7afe) with ofcourse no maintenance or oil grade history. And I am using TOTAL 10W-40 (Mineral oil) from day 1 in this engine. Till now I have put almost 25k kms on this engine, using same grade oil & changing oil every 3.5k to 4k kms. Alhamdolillah engine is in great health, no oil-reduction, no blue smoke etc.

But nowadays I am seriously thinking to shift to some thinner oil likeTotal 5w-30 (fully synthetic) & will continue using it for some good years. Bcz I think that 10w-40 is kinda thicker oil & it will slowly cause sludge build-up in the engine, if I keep-on using it for like next 2-3 years. These days my mind is assuming that 10w-40 is a slow-poison for this engine & its the best time to shift.

I think 5w-30 have some good cleaning abilities bcz of high detergents & will also help in getting good fuel economy as well as less load on PISTON OIL CONTROL RINGS & OIL PUMP.

What do you guys suggest ? Should I switch to 5w-30 or this engine is too old for these synthetic oils ?

In my opinion keep using 10w40,because the region from which we belongs summers are very hot.keep oil change intervals between 2.5-3k if u want some extra care, otherwise 4k will be ok for this grade.change brand if u want like liqui moly or some better.

Brother actually my point of view for using 5w-30 grade is that these engines are already prone to oil control rings failure due to sludge build-up on them, I just want to avoid the sludge build-up scene. Synthetic oils have better cleaning abilities.

Try total quartz 9000 5W30. Keep eye on oil level at every 500km interval. If engine is in good shape it won’t reduce it. If all is good then change it at 5000kms with oil filter. It will improve fuel consumption and engine will be cleaner.

5000 kms Isn't it too much ?

The max I can let the oil in the engine is 3.5k to 4k kms, not more.

3000kms is good enough for your total mineral 10W40, but 5W30 fully synthetic can run easily for 5000kms with guard oil filter. Its your choice if you drain it at 4k kms btw imo it will be waste.

I yave question what will happen if we use 88Kpa radiator cap instead of 110 Kpa

The 88 Kpa cap will obviously hold less pressure in the cooling system whereas the 110 Kpa will hold more & after it reaches the pressure limit, it releases the pressure into coolant reservoir.

That i know dear.what are the effect.reduction in coolant ?? Or any other issues

The cap which holds less pressure will result in overflow of coolant from the coolant reservoir which further results in loss of coolant.

BTW which car/engine are we talking about ?
And I will just advise to stick with recommended specs.

That is what i m facing reduction in coolant.acording to manual it must have 110Kpa cap but mine is 88 kpa so will change and check

Bss theek hai phr ... go for 110 kpa ... I hope it will solve your issue.

Here is another update.
Last week I was in Peshawar so went to Shoba bazar & purchased the rear nose cut for my corolla. Got it booked through a cargo service.
And its finally arrived today.

Got a set of clean kabuli JDM tail lights & new Taiwani garnish, as the previous ones were slightly broken.

Also few days back, the trunk & fuel lid opener got broke. Bought that including cables.

Before you ask me for the reason why I am getting the rear nose cut replaced. Here is your answer.

So yes I have a valid reason to replace the rear nose cut.

Again you’ll need paint job. Btw alot of kharcha on this old beauty. If possible also get 1994 front headlights and grill of se limited.

This time, I will be going for a quality paint job Insha Allah ... sir who cares about the kharcha, when the old beauty like this, is more reliable & needs less workshop visits than newer cars in the house.

And this thing was the part of project from day 1, I was just waiting for the right time & right person i.e. denter to get the job done.

Baqi the headlights are of 1994 i.e. non-crystal although SE grill is needed. Actually I have a future plan to get front GT bumper.
