Restoration of Corolla Xli 2010

Hi all,

I am planning to buy a car in low cost and restore it as close as possible to factory specs do you guys think is it worth it and how much will it cost? Most of used cars now a days from this model are showered below roof or including roof from outside so instead of buying those at insane price I have planned and getting an Xli Lahore registered in around 16.5 lakh so if I spend 200K on it to get it a new life isn't it going to be worth the effort? Please give your suggestions.

That depends on how much you know about cars. If you are well versed, you might be able to pull it off, but most of the time, the cheap ones are money pits

Exactly most cars out there for sale now a days are garbage unfortunately the ones which are better in condition demand for those so high that it doesn't make any sense to pay that much insane for those.

How much do you know about cars? Prices these days for parts and restorations are crazy. 6 months back, i bought a first owner corolla altis 2012, spent 200k on suspension and regular maintenance alone.... this didn't include anything big just bushings and ends...

Can you guide me about 1.6 fuel average in city on ac? I recently bought 2014 SR and it's giving me max. 9/L in city on ac. Also, I second you with the charges.

Depends on the route and the foot. I would get 12 to 12.5 in isb and lahore, medium to light foot

Karachi. Recently bought Altis 2014. 180k driven but first owner therefore in better condition. After buying I changed filters,oil and plugs. Installed new continental tires 15inch. Brake pads and bushes are wornt out. That will be fixed after Eid. What else

Fuel pump and fuel filter.
Gear oil, all the belts. If its running the original sensor based compressor then get ac serviced. Also replace coolant and check thermostat

Did you ask him what oil he was using? Where he got maintenance done from?
I was using 5w30, that plays a vital role in attaining good consumption

Brother, I only checked the car once. My friend handled all the work.. he's experienced in that. However, I simply asked him about the maintenance history, and he said he would contact uncle and update me about it. Only then can I provide you with more details.. we have always bought zero meter car and it was always maintain from showroom. This is the first time I bought a used car therefore I don't know much but I am gathering details from this platform so to maintain it properly. I appreciate the way you guiding

Well you said that you changed oil, what oil did you use

ZIC 20W50. My car has already crossed 180k KM.

Thats your issue there. Thicker oil means more friction, hence lower mileage. I am maintaining a 2001 civic 230k on the odo running 10w40. Another 2003 civic that has done 215k on the odo, still running 10w40.
No oil reduction in any.
Maintained cars run well even at 300k kms
