I wouldnt doubt it. The fact of the matter is that we all put our best efforts in our restos. The outcome is conditioned and is based on so many factors from the quality of the panel beater's job to painters final touches and then the upholstrer's perfectionism. All these guys' work can only be supervised, if necessary pin pointed but we cant make them work to their full hearts no matter what we do.

Just have faith and make sure that you be there wherever your personal supervision is required and your efforts and money vest in the project would bear fruits, be sure of it. Good luck.

I couldn't agree with you more, the fact that your thread is one of the most detailed ive seen on PW or any other site for that matter, speaks volumes of how patience and perseverance is the key to any good resto.
I believe that these are the only two factors along with attention to detail which makes a resto worth its while. For me restoring a car is therapeutic if nothing else. Also its the hunger for appreciation at the end of it that what one had made out of nothing but sheer determination.

This looks like the dodge D 11, if im not wrong. And if its the same car then it really is a find. Try taking some pictures of the car in question and maybe we could put it on the VCCCP thread. Im sure somebody there can identify it.

You have to be sure which car it is in the first place, I suggest you get some pictures first. In case it is a Dodge then you must keep in mind that parts will be hard and very expensive to source, and it would require a lot of patience and first hand research, as Reezvan has mentioned in his post earlier. Fiats and Austins are relatively easier to restore because of their simpler engineering. This car that you are mentioning will be quiet a task. If you feel up to it then I think you should not wait, however, once again please get the pictures first and put it up to the experts on these forums.

Nice! You have quiet a collection there, I noticed the Bugs in the background...:P. I know of someone who might be getting rid of his bug. He has original Bumpers in fantastic condition. Will try to persuade him to let go of the bumpers individually. he needs the cash so...assuming you still want them.

Yes, I still want the Original German Towel Rail Bumpers (Both front and rear) in "NON WELDED" condition. Chrome pitting is no issue as I have to mount them on the Patina'd Patina. But any welds would be serious turn offs and I will have to pass the bumpers which have "welds" of any sort. Small dings and dents wouldn't matter either.

I hope you know how to identify the bumpers being "Original"? If not please read Post # 966 on Page # 49 on my DIY Thread by clicking these blue fonts.

P.S.: What year is that Beetle which your friend is parting with and what is the general condition on her? Can you share any pictures (probably closeups of bumpers too:P)?

This is truly a classic car, do read up on it on the internet. Depending on the originality of this car it can be in the region of Twenty to Eighty K US in the international market. And I reckon it is very rare here in Pakistan. How much is he asking for?

PM'd you my number to you the other day. Any news on convincing your friend to let go of bumpers separately?

Got your number, This guy is really desperate to let his ride go, its an OK looking and running car. Needs money. Ideal for a project. He is still confused whether to just let the bumpers go. The bumps are in a very good condition and not welded.

It all depends on how much I can offer him. Any ideas?
