Restoration of my Kawasaki GT 550

Nice to know that u have started this project. I m also doing a project like this but in my case Engine of the bike is in good running condition while another member form Karachi @jamaal is restoring his XL350.

next week i sent my bike to the mechanic in Rawal pindi. the famous Bashir on tipu road. most of the people know him .
he started his work soon and told me that its a nice bike and in a good condition, coz mostly army bike are not in such nice condition.

@ Coolj! Good work... keep it up... Ah so Bashir is handling this one, there is another good mech of these bikes (Zafar ustad) here in Islamabad, G-6/1 (Near old TCS, Ambassador Hotel)...

@ Imranbhatti! So how is your project going on??? would love to see once is over. Oh so that was Jamaal who is working on XL350... and I was asking ‘daudbros’ about the XL350 project... I think he was somewhat surprised but named 3 great bikes he owned.

the condition of the engine was not that much bad but i wanted every single thing to be in a brand new condition and that is what i have done too. u will see inshallah

thank you bhai. yes bhai u r right but most of my friends told me to go to bashir only.
zafar also a nice mech but he has gone on umrah , that is what i heard from his shop.

Oh acha Zafar is not here these days... know him for many years (his younger brother 'kaka' was real good with these bikes, but i think he is gone abroad now).
I Zafar still got one or 2 of these bikes he bought about 6 from the army auction few of years ago and restored few for business.

yar bro u can buy the same bike from lahore. i saw some one telling about the same bike being sold near lahore on the road going toward multan on pakwheels. i think i am explaing it right.

yes bhai u r right he did buy and restord these bike a couple of years ago and had a white Honda CBX 750, in which i was very intrested but unfortunatly my hard luck it was bought by some one from peshawar. i am still looking for the same bike but didn't find up till now .
from the guy i bought my bike has honda cbx 650 but i want the 750 coz its final drive is shaft.

Oh that CBX 750 ummm i think earlier belonged to Pakistan Navy. Was a good bike with four independent curb.... I think use to do 16km/l

but bhai i was told by zafar that it belonged to some embasy , and he bought it from them. it had each and very thing in its orignal form. it was some thing like this may be u have seen it

I think we are talking about the same bike... was in perfect condtion, each button, used to work.... I have been seening that bike since late 1998.

R u sure that CBX 650 is availalbe in that Junk yard (Tarnool)? coz i have visited taht place three months before in search of CBX 650 but that time available bikes were only GT550 & CB 650.

Bhai i cant say any thing about his character coz i dont know him that much. but yes we r talking about the same bike. i once had a chance to ride the v same bike when i went to him for buying but didn't had that much money at that time, and now when i have the bike is not there.......
Bhai have u any idea about that bike or where elce can i buy one from.

bhai yes he does have but only three and they arrived two or three weeks ago. i took a pic of him and the bike i will show it to u. it was on the 24th of July. he wanted me to buy one from him but as i told u before i am more intrested in Honda CBX 750 with Shaft drive

The bike shown in pic is Honda CB 650 & 3~4 were even available that time in start condition. CBX 650 is different from this & also have shaft drive same as CBX 750.

I restorated GT 550 back in 2002 and this beast is running too fast I travelled Islamabad to Lahore on GT road just in 3 hours. Now it has problem with its valve which was broken and I am modifing them hope so it will on road in next month. Importent is that I am installing cng or lpg kit on it.

it was rebuilt by some one elce and i bought that one from bashir.

Sir jee from where r u getting this work done of the engine and why the CNG. what would be the use of having such a big mechine then.
