Of course - planting an aircooled mill back into the car takes all of 30 minutes tops with one trolley jack, a large piece of thick flat wood and some basic tools.

Before planting this engine back into the car try to start it with a powerful drill machine on the pulley with the engine resting on a tyre, if your mechanic is a VW one, get him to install the dog type crank pulley bolt - its the kind that allows a starter handle to be used, it will make the engaging dogs slip out when the engine fires.

Once it fires you know that the engine is good put the engine back in the car - now get to isolating the problem that is the starter motor bad or the transmission is lugging the engine really really hard. Isolate the engine by pressing the clutch when cranking.

Great! So what did the mechanic derive was the problem exactly, for motor not being started in the first attempt?

Valve clearance and jammed starter switch.

Well, the engine has been fitted back into place today. Got 10 liters of petrol to put into the fuel tank.

Now from tomorrow, the work on the fuel tank will start.

Tank should have been de-rusted before pouring in some fuel. Now all the grim/rust from within the dry sitting tank from all the previous endless months would clog your fuel line/choke fuel filter.

Haven't added the fuel in yet.

You're totally correct. We'll clean the fuel tank beforehand.

The building on which the workshop is located has been sold. They have been given 20 days to vacate.

They're tensed out on where to go now.

I told the mechanic to at least finish his work off, so that Blue can be driveable.

The top priority task should be to spend a day at the mechanic (if you have to), collect all the loose parts/spares which came off Blue or were provided to mechanic to be used on Blue for completion "BEFORE" he starts packing his bits to vacate the shop and toe Blue (if necessary) to another mechanic and get her road worthy there.

If you wont act as detailed above, you would be left with half baked project with NO parts to complete it (even if you wanted to).

You are in a sticky situation here. You are taking Blue to another mechanic and most mechanics are not pleased doing work on some other mechanic's bug. They are always nagging on how everything that the previous mechanic did was wrong. You can try my mechanic but i think it will be a little far for you. He's in north nazimabad. But he's practically in my neighborhood so i can keep a check? You can also try Universal Motors.
