I suggest you co-ordinate with your friends and invite them over. Arrange for lots of food (Pizzas delivered can be the best option). Hire one of the mechanics apprentices for those hard to squeeze in places and do it yourself. You'll be surprised how much you can get done. Even if it is not perfect you can have it perfected professionally (even though, judging from the workmanship of 'professionals' you have entrusted the restoration of your blue to I am confident you'll do a far better job yourself)
Do invite Dr. Asad and a few others you have been in communication with on and off this forum.
Arrange for several little pans to wash and clean the parts before they go on the car. This may be a good time to sort all those old T-shirts that your mother has been after you to get rid of. Those come in handy as rags for cleaning greasy hands and parts. Some packing cartons flattened out could keep the ground clean or if you are working on unpaved surface as a bit of comfort to sit on or slide under the car.
You may also request everyone to bring in whatever tools they have. You'll be surprised to see that the combined lot would be more than what your mechanic owns.
Last but not the least...Safety FIRST....arrange for wooden blocks or jack stands. Do not get under a car supported by a jack alone.
Good luck!
