This project has been a struggle. We are trying to do the best possible under the circumstances. Please note that this is the first ever project being done by Murtaza_Murti and since this particular car was rescued from being scrapped in the first place, I think he does deserve a pat on his back.
Ideally, he should have gone for a VW specialist denter and done a body off. He had realized it a long time ago that this was indeed the route he should have taken. In an ideal world. Karachi is a massive city with, unfortunately a very volatile political and ethnic environment. Many areas are 'no-go' for people in the so called affluent areas and the distances with the combined delay of traffic jams, unruly traffic, risk of street crime make collecting parts or visiting the specialists related to VWs a real mission.
Just this Friday, I had to turn back having set out for a scrap yard trip. Got a warning from one of my contacts about trouble brewing up in a certain area en route.
Note that the kid is a student and his studies come as top priority. One should not expect him to spend half the day on the streets chasing VW related guys.
Back to the car......we are trying our best by involving a third (yes third!) denter available locally in the area to fix a list of issues we find unacceptable. We had indeed drawn up a pen and paper list for our ease and memory. In fact, we plan to even test fit the glass, especially the rear window before the final paint goes on. Ive seen rear windows act up when it comes to make the final fitting on a freshly dented and painted bug.
All criticism is taken positively since we believe we can fix things now before we cross the point of applying the final paint to the car, so we DO look forward to hearing from you guys.
