sorry, i didn't mean to challange you at all, red bottles in three steps perfectly fits the description of mothers products which are comparatively easily available in pakistan. these products are even better than mothers, you should use this system but try #26 as the third step.

i have experience with the meguiars gold class range, the only reason i recommend #26 over gold class wax is because #26 is a pure wax (totally free of cleaners) whlist Gold class is made with very light cleaners.

On your first post ...... Yes, time will tell when we are sitting with our grand kids (God willing) and say that I had this Corolla which had ...... and ?... etc. and our grand kids will be on Pakwheels saying this was my Granddad's Corolla 20XX and I am restoring it. A modern car that I will never forget was the one I bought after the 540i. This was a true luxmobile. Here is a picture of the exterior followed by shots of the interior. You can see my 540i in the background waiting to find a buyer.

This one was a 2004 745iL. Not as fast as the 540i but boy it did turn heads.

It had independent rear seats that were reclining with height adjustment plus heating and cooling. Once the arm rest was down a refrigerator was exposed. The armrest cover had a wireless phone (there were two phones one in the back and one in the front armrest). From the rear i-control knob all the functions of the car both front and rear could be controlled. Of course electric sunshades all around. And the sound system was a with full movie theatre experience - 14 speakers in all including sub-woofers under the front seats and voice effect speaker in the centre of the dash. 6 audio CD in dash and 6 DVD in the boot. Navigation for the Gulf countries. I could fill the entire page with its accessories.

If I was to buy a car here of my choice I would go for a high spec 2006 750iL. Others may disagree with me. Of all the cars I have owned, this one will remain truly memorable.

These must be truly awesome cars. The "redeeming" factor about them is also the "awesome" depreciation the 7-series in particular suffers from, so you may well be able to find a bargain yet! The closest I came to a 7 was a 1983 735i which I bought in 1997 andkept for about 15 months. It was a grand old boat, very swift , but I was too worried about something going wrong with it!

They have started the hand rubbing part of job. I took the is picture of the front right mudguard. If you look at the mudguard near my hand, you see that the paint is a bit dull - the rubbing or cutting process is still not completed.

As already mentioned, This paint shop is pretty good. I had done quite a bit of research before selecting this one. The pictures don't do justice to the paint job. BTW all pictures are taken by my Nokia N8 with 12MP camera. There is no Photoshop beyond cropping and enlarging.

Car gets back today and I will begin the refit work tomorrow. All the stuff is lying in the unused bedroom. While the car was away, I have done a bit of work to clean the healights. No polish was used, just a damp tissue, on the reflectors as it is all to easy to remove the micro layer of mirror finish on the reflectors.

The most difficult will be putting in the new rubber insert in the running boards. reason being that the rubber has to be squeezed and inserted in to its retaining slot. the rubber is really very stiff and takes a lot of strength to press fit. I'll have to devise a jig to somehow squeeze and roll the rubber bead into the slot.

Youre the engineer!! Sounds a bit like installing a windscreen rubber sorrowing or am I missing it altogether ?!

Well yes but at a much bigger scale. Whereas with a wiper the rubber is slid in from one side and worked through to the end, the step bead 'U' channel is closed from both ends. The rubber has to be squeezed dropped into the channel and let go. If the rubber was soft, it would be so easy but it is as stiff as a tire rubber. Here is an older picture showing the close up of the running board near the front right door. Over the years the rubber has been turning into dust and becoming shorter in length. I remeber this to be a few cm short when I was a kid, now it is over 4 - 6 inches shorter. i haf a roll of the correct stuff from Australia from a shop called Scott's Old Rubber. Try them out if you need any strange stuff not easily available.

I know exactly where you are coming from. Rubber staying in touch with petroleum products eventually turns it into "halwa". Thanks for the part number. I'll try the KY jelly first if that fails then go down to Shahnawaz in I-9.

What I was comparing with was what had to be done with a widescreen rubber SORROUND and not a "sorrowing" ( not a wiper either!) when fitting a windscreen.....but even then, looking at these pics, i see was way off!

They are expensive. as a comparison, I took a car to the dude under the tree for a full body paint, he quoted 40,000 while VEBRA quoted 65,000 for the same job. But they are good.

As they say, "Quality is a lot like oats - You pay good money for fresh oats but oats that have been through the horse can be got for a lot less"

Car is back from the shop. Very dusty. Don't want to clean it for at least a week. However, fit up work is progressing. Running board step bead rubber installation job will begin in a day or so.
