You humble me with such praise. But, truth of the mater is, my car is nowhere near as desirable as these beautiful and rare machines. Their rarity awards them the right to be entered for judging at Pebble Beach. Most of these beauties are in excess of a million dollars each. Many hundred thousand dollars have been spent on their restoration.

The range of Jaguars to which my car belongs was never desirable at any time. Specifically, within this undesirable range my car was the least desirable being the one with least performance. Having said that, to me it holds greater value than any car on Pebble Beach since through it there is a direct link to my ancestors. That is just my two cents worth.

You are absoluty right about the emotional connections that you might have with your jag.

Your car might not be worth million dollors but it is certainly a very rare restoration in our part of land for which you deserve a good pat on ur back. Please carry on the good work.

Sir that is what the value of a car is, not everything can be weighed in currency notes. To you this is perhaps the most valueable of the cars you have owned, and you have owned a lot of valueable cars. I love it when I see young guys polishing their Mehrans and FX and maintaining them meticulously and babying them as though they were million dollar cars, that's the value of a car in my eyes. The love that goes into the car speaks for itself.

Thanks for the pat on the back. The report writing skills hark back to my Maintenance Engineer days when I was required to write history logs complete with hand sketches for the plant machinery. Night shift used to be the best time complete equipment history files :). I ran into one of my technicians about 10 years after leaving that job. He told me they were still using my reports as a reference guide while doing equipment maintenance. If I have known better, I should have got copy rights:D

Thx. As promissed in the begining of this thread, you will get to see the finished project and so you have. With this post# 232, I can officially say that I have come to the end of this project. Minor issues will continue, after all it is a 64 year old car .... heck it has 500 mile service intervals :).

A job well done! The maintenance never ends and as rightly said minor issues will keep cropping up in a car of this vintage. But she has a very talented owner to take care of such issues. Indeed a very luck cat!

What is needing serviced every 500 miles? Just curious. I would imagine lots of greasing, checking and tightening etc.

The water pump bearing - Shell Alvania #2 grease one stroke :(, Check oil in the carb piston damper, two drops of oil the distributor drive, top up engine oil - well this one is just a check and top as required.

Every 1000 miles it is 14 grease nipples on the front suspension and 2 on the prop shaft. Last time I took the Civic for a wash at the station nearby, I asked the dude there if he had a grease gun; I got back a very strange look from him.

Every 2500 miles engine, gear and diff oil change, oil trafficators.

Every 5000 miles change oil filter, and grease wheel bearings.

Very tiring!!!

Here are two scans from the sales brochure circa 1946. Someone in the sales department has updated the prices
I presume. I find it amusing to note that grandfather paid about 837 Pounds, 18 Shillings and 11 pence for the car :).

The second scan from the same brochure mentions the expected performance from these cars. If you see my car's (1-1/2Liter) performance, you will see that it takes 25 sec to reach 60mph vs only 14.2 sec for the 3-1/2Liter car. They don't even bother to mention 0-70mph times for my car though it is supposed to have a top speed of 75mph. BTW the performance figures for the 1-1/2Liter car were in line with small to medium family sedans of the period.

These documents are shared just as a mater of amusement. Please don't think that I go about racing with Suzuki FX's late at night:)
