i think you are right, because the reverse gear switch operates as given below.
Switch push button pressed = Light OFF
Switch push button unpressed = Light ON
i checked the switch for the above operation myself through ohm meter.
Now when we put the car in reverse gear the button gets unpressed and the lights goes on. but in my case there is a small ball bearing type thingy which pushes the button IN and gets the lights OFF. I think i should keep the Gear in Reverse and then check how much it gets the button pressed and then cut the extra button (H) lol
