So I'm driving a Belta 2008 1.0x for almost a year now, and recently I drove a 11th generation pre face lift Corolla gli automatic and I thought to write a brief comparison of these two similar cars with hell of a price difference.
1- Price
Belta 1 million to 1.2 million pkr.
Corolla around 1.9 to 2.0 million pkr.
Performance
Belta 1.0 may feels underpower but so does corolla 1.3 automatic. In my experience both are sluggish. And once you go past 40 Belta does seems to come around and pick up pace.
Brakes
Braking is much better and reliable on Belta than Corolla. ABS does seems to fail and skid in Corolla when car is about to stop. On the other hand Belta grips the road pretty well.
Steering
Steering feel is amazing on both the cars. Both are soft but my points are with Corolla on this it felt new and responsive.
Suspension
I heard many people talking about softer Corolla's suspension and that it's good for Pakistani roads, but it felt like am sitting in a plastic bag going over bumps. Belta suspension is far superior than Corolla.
Comfort
Corolla's seats are not bad but I would give extra point to Belta here. The seats of Belta are amazing for it's given size and category.
Mileage
Belta because of CVT gearbox gives a good average if you've a light foot, a Belta will definitely give you on average 14 km/l plus. Belta average range is 12-15 km/l. On the other hand Corolla might give you between 10-13 km/l. I'm not sure about corolla's average, but the info is extracted from many many reviews and friends.
Boot Space
Boot Space is gigantic in both the cars.
Built in Music System
Both are pretty bad. If you're a music lover you need to upgrade on both these car. But this said, Corolla's unit system is new but still not good enough.
Engine Sound
Corolla's Engine sound is good. Belta doesn't make a good noise.
Conclusion
Both the cars are under power, seems pretty similar but there is a gigantic price difference.
Spending 2 million of Gli doesn't make sense.
