Hi, I own 660 WagonR 84k driven using havoline 0W-20 since last 50k and I am happy with the drive and FE.I recently heard a lot about amsoil positive reviews So thought to give it a try so I need your reviews. Owners reviews.Secondly its not API compatible will it damage the cat con? What should be drain intervals for my car with a good quality filter like vic? I am running caltax 7-8k and it still comes out in reasonable condition. Can amsoil lasts for 12k at least provided my car just takes 2.8l oil with filter?
I believe change interval of 7-8 is too much on caltex, I would change at 7-8 when using amsoil and 5k on caltex
8000 kms oil change interval on a boutique oil that is priced like gold?
Good lord you guys are richer than King of Brunei
I guess argument of small slump dinky is out of question now?
Even with small sump and genuine filter, one should expect a bit more than a mere 5000 miles
Speaking reasonably, if Im forced a 5000 mile oil change, Ill stick to usual egg and potato cheapo 5w20, not some boutique blend that costs twice as much.
Rather than amsoil I will recommend valvoline syn power 0w20 It's rated for 7.5k kms under severe conditions Pour and change every 7.5k or 6.5 or 7 as you wish(Yes I'm amsoil user, currently 0w20 signature series is In my car)And btw glad that you used correct recommended grade for so long and will continue it rather than following mechanics and pouring 5w30 or 10w40
The fans of extra long drain intervals dont understand this,I wish they open the top valve cover after sometime to witness the sludge being deposited.
3 litre amsoil for 6000rs, assume it lasts 12000km,compare it with usual brand 0w20s which cost 3000rs and change at 5000km, where is the benefit? Is oil change that complex? But the biggest thing is one is risking his car's engineThere is a reason engine oil change comes under "preventive maintinance"
8k on havoline it's the most cheapest oil money can buy.
My engine would be dead by now if there was sludge in it. Following these intervals with zic as well. Probably I am doing something right that's why engine is still good
Which car? And after how long you are changing the oil?
How abt we analyze the engine, compression test and the visuals, post them here, if u r in isl/rwp. No charges
No one can judge better my car then myself. If I felt engine power isn't enough I would have gone with compression tests. Driving this car since 4 years and engine sound and power is still the same as of day 1. Can easily maintain 120 on motorways. This was not possible if engine is weak on a tiny 660
Caltax 0W-20 is a very underrated oil. If I had any bigger car I would have used it for even 10-12k
Caltex is indeed a gud oil, value for money
