Day 1 Sunday 30th April 2017
Well lets get back to timeline. So we left rwp and reached batkhela near 8Am , It was sunny day and day was getting hot and hotter , took tea stop there. Road was all OK till there however traffic was recklessly faster there . After having tea and makai ki roti ( Ammi k hath ki
) moved forward to Chakdarah. When we entered the city it was too hot literally and we were burning , saw a man selling sugarcane juice there , Man that was the best of the best taste we ever tasted. The place was timergara. And resumed over ride agaon, We were too tired and felt exhausted due to hot sunny day . With every city we were crossing was hoping to get better weather ahead but nope. It was 1PM and we found a place at Wari to stay for a while. It was a fish point, we crashed there and after a mint waleed was sleeping. I ordered Karahi and took a quick nap of 5mints. The karahi was the best. Was served with fresh salad, dara mirch soaked in vinegar . After having lunch we left for dir. The Plan was to cross lowari pass in day light. So we were going at 70 80km/h. Just before starting ascend to lowari there was a clash going on between locals . a group was throwing stones on road while the other was removing it
we safely crossed it in 15 mints and everyone was staring at us -_-.
So we started riding lowari road and damnn that was the toughest ride of our life. It was very steap ascend , the dirt track , on road water streams and a lot of trucks. First two water streams was OK and the third one was flowing too fast . The bike was in water upto petrol tank and we were too. It was like we were going with water. Damn we were continuously praying and Allah saved us. Alhumdulillah we crossed it Safely. And continued our journey to top. It was 4:30PM already and we kept moving. The track was unpaved all made of stones and mud which made us too tired and exhausted. On way someone told us there are hotels on top where you can stay for night. So we were searching here and there for hotels but no sign of it. Our shoes and trousers were all wet and sun got disappeared behind mountains so we were shivering and riding continuously in search of hotel but didn’t find any . By 6pm we reached the peak and army guy told us that there is no hotel you have to move forward asap before its too dark. And we started descending. It was hardest time of our lives , we kept praying May Allah help us reach some destination safely . By 8Pm we hit the road , the lowari pass was over . It was too cold there and we found a truck hotel there , took a tea break and gathered some information from locals. The city (Darosh) was 2hours away where we could find hotels . And we were not in position to ride that much time. There was no sign of road ahead and it was extremely dark. A guy told us there is a hotel 15mints away where you can get a place to sleep. So we reached BARADUM and found a truck hotel there . It was warm inside. Talked with hotel owner and he asked 200 for 2 persons and gave us a place to sleep. We took our sleeping bags out and slept within no time.
Day 2 Monday 1st May 2017
Woke up at 08am. Packed our luggage, asked hotel guy for Chaaeeyy and left for chitral at 9am, we were quite fresh after having good sleep. Before leaving I checked engine oil and it was considerably low, I was surprised , had spare bottle with me so refilled it and it took almost 400ml, Alhumdulillah I checked it on time. So we moved towards chitral. Plan was to have our breakfast at Darosh 2hours away. But we didn’t stop there and moved forward. Road was all unpaved till darosh. And afterthat we finally got good road to ride till booni. We were riding continuously. Reached chitral in 3hours but it was too hot. We were too sick of weather. So decided not to take a stop and moved forward. The road was all good. We were moving at 70-80kmh.
On way to booni at around 1pm we saw a waterfall along the road. A fruit vendor was sitting there having juices, watermelons, melons and bananas. And guess what we were sharing his place like in no time. The water was too refreshing and damn cold. It was a scene of heaven in this hot weather. Took our boots off, washed ourselves and asked the guy to bring some watermelon and bananas. One thing we noticed is the use of Nature’s Refrigerator in those areas. (Which I will be sharing later through pictures
).Well after having lunch (sort of) and prayer break we moved forward. Booni was an hour away. And when we reached booni , saw a ptdc motel there and a road(a path actually) was going towards mastuj. It was 3pm. We wanted to get close to shandur as much we can so we kept moving. The path was damn scary, muddy and no sign of life. We were going at 15-20kmh. It was the long track till mastuj. On way we found an abandoned hotel. Stopped there and saw some locals coming towards us. Had a lil chit chat with them and they were surprised why we are going on bikes towards shandur. A guy stopped us saying , the road from shandur to gilgit is still closed. But we wanted to confirm it by ourselves
When we left it was 5:30pm.
The sun was gone and the path was all straight , no ascend or descend . We were riding in a valley. Place was too mesmerizing to refresh our souls. And around 6:30pm started seeing signs of city. We knew it was Mastuj. Damn we were happy. Mood got better even.
Around 7 we were entering the city. An army checkpost was there. The guys asked us where we going and after my reply he said no chance shandur is closed. Well I was like no comments. And we entered Mastuj. It’s a very small city. Took a room in a guest house there named Hot Springs. The guest house was too good. Environment was clean and staff was too nice. They provided us hot water for shower. Cook came and asked ‘Sir khanay ma kia bnaon, I thought they will be charging more for karahi, so we will eat from outside. Smart me right?
He was like , ‘Sir jaldi bta dain baad ma bazar bend hojaey ga’. I asked him to bring tea only and we are all fine. After having tea and unloading our luggage from bike left for Bazaar. It was all dark , not a single shop or hotel was open. We were in trouble now
Came back and asked him to bring Karahi and he was like ‘Sir Bazaar to bend ho gaya’ and we ordered parathy , omelet and chaaey :D. The guest house had dining hall , met two guys from Lahore there who brought their bike on bus till chitral. Their plan was to ride till Gilgit and move towards skardu. They were too funny , they forgot to refill fuel tank next day which I will be sharing later
After having dinner cum breakfast
we went to sleep and a day spent well..
