Steel Rims are heavier but durable, in case of any impact unlike alloy rims they dont break or shatter providing superior safety, Also if properly balanced and aligned they provide rail road like drive inherent trait of heavier wheel.
on the other hand, a branded and good quality alloy rim is lighter in weight while comparing to steelie, providing better acceleration and slight improvement in the fuel economy in addition to looks which is offcourse a strong point.
Alloy rims, if broken cannot be used, however the alloy can be used to recycle. Still some facilities are repairing broken, cracked, chipped alloys by the way of cut n weld and then machining them and giving them paint finish to look like a new alloy.
I think the steel rims of correct size is way to go, being cost effective and doing the job well.
However if you are thinking of alloys, better go for the branded one from reputed seller and get the correct size and offset u can look for branded used one after checking and verifying balance on machine.
But avoid the shop selling refurbished rims as u never know about repairs.
New chinese low quality rims are even heavier than steelies and start having balancing issues, no matter wat u do wont get balanced even with new tyres.
