Road Conditions from GILGIT to SKARDU? 2017

Salam,
I visited Skardu last year with my family (Me,my wife,3 children and mother) on my Toyota GLI 2013.It will take you about 5-6 hours from Naran to Jaglot (the point from one leaves KKH and takes a turn towards Skardu).From that point it will take atleast 6-7 hours to reach Skardu.Because the road is not a very good quality one.Not a proper double road.a narrow one..very zigzag and quality is bad also.land sliding creats more troubles.So driving on Skardu road is bit different from driving on KKH or roads In Kaghan Valley.Its challenging and demanding.If you are an expert driver and have strong nerves and stamina,you can drive without any problem.just keep urself attentive and calm.but it was really a memorable journey and we will also visit Skardu in future Insha Allah.I wish you a safe and joyful trip.

You can pitch your camp in hotel's camping area..
But weather is usually very hot in chilas so camping there is not a good idea.
Baltistan mein itna farq nai parhta room rents ka.. jaise naran or murree ka parhta hai..
Ziada barha k nahi mangte.. standard rates se thora farq hota hai..
And after atleast 12 hours drive.. i think you should go for a room
And yeah.. shangrila hotel chilas will require advance booking as it will be full in eid days.

There is less chance of shortage of fuel in this area.
Remember to fill your tank from balakot. If still you feel like your vehicle aint gonna make it to chilas or any doubt about shortage in chilas or jaglot then fill it again from naran. Otherwise dont need to fill from naran as i really doubt there fuel quality

Yeah plan has been shifted a little. Now im not purchasing camp. I will go to Hunza for 2 days n Gilgit for 3 days alongwith my family. Lets hope I will find rooms on both the places.

My car has 37litre petrol tank So once filling it from Balakot I hope it will make easily till Chillas. As I dont want to be robbed in Naran haha
But Chilas me Allah karay ab fuel ki shortage na ho.

Last year.. when i got onto KKH to hunza after returning from fairy meadows.. there was a huge landslide between raikot bridge and jaglot part.
I came to know that when we reached hunza.
Just when we crossed that part a mountain fell down.. a truck and 2 cars got stucked in that landslide.. Alhumdulillah all passengers were rescued safely and alive.
But on our return.. that landslide looked horrible.. only few inches upper part of TRUCK was visible.

Be safe and always check forecasts before travelling.

There is nothing to see in gilgit.. its just a city.. temperature is also like rawalpindi's..
Except its surrounding areas i.e; naltar valley, bagrote valley and road to shandur pass.. which includes gahkuch gupis phander yasin etc

I suggest you to go for yasin valley.. after hunza.
From hunza drive straight to ptdc gupis through gilgit.. spend a night there.. next day visit yasin valley.. and return to gilgit..

So one night will be in gupis and one in gilgit.
If you can spare a day then stay a night in phander as well and return to gilgit from there.

Is Phandar Yaseen valley n Gupis worth watching? 2days in Hunza 1 for Khunjrab Attabad 1 for Altit Baltit Eagle nest. 1 day for Naltar in Gilgit.
Now I dont know where is hould go to spend my day 4 n day5 keeping in mind that I will be with my family So i need to visit something worth watching.

If you think that your family will like it then go for it.
Otherwise you can visit nagar valley and hopar glacier from hunza. You can take your car till hopar hotel.

last year 18th sep i go skardu by own car city aspire 2015, stay army mess near Shangrilla resort
best way to go by air because
road condition is vry vry vry vry vry bad
koi dosri ghari 1 ghantey baad nazar ati thi,
rastey main koi proper dhaba bi nahi hae,
is lye ager skardu jana hae tu 4 wheel type koi ghari lain apni na ho tu behter hae
sattilite phone zaroor rent per lay jana

i just came from Babusar yesterday, from Balkot to Naran, it will take minimum 3 hours, than from Naran to Babusar 3 hours again..!!

All who are going to first time to Gilgit baltistan remember that you can never follow time frame like that 3 hours to naran and 2 hours to babusar top. And 3 hours to here n there. Because there are lot of places where you should stop and enjoy the nature. Glaciers lakes rivers water falls all these place will take your time. Dont make destinations important. Enjoy your journy. Every inch of these areas is worth to see. I am very frequent traveller of these areas with my family.

Gilgit skurdu road is not dangeous just drive carefully low speed and proper use of transmission gears is important while deriving. You breaks and tgres should be in good condition.
