The Roewe 550 is not exactly a new car anymore and that is reflected in its sales statistics for the past few months for the entire Roewe brand of cars, the 750 is also dropping off as it comes to the end of its product life. For 2012 the 550 is going to be given a slight nip and tuck to make it look so modern and bring it in line with the Roewe 350 that is wearing the new corporate beak, which seems to inspired by the Gillette razor series, the 750 is also expected to follow this design trend.
Engine power is expected to stay the same for 2012 until a new 550 is developed, which means the usual suspects of the 1.8T and naturally aspirated 1.8 unit will be used again, however the introduction of a 6 speed dual clutch gearbox which is the result of joint SAIC and GM research will be a welcomed introduction to the 550, which is supposed to be one of China’s best locally made cars.
