Well itâs been a week now that I have been listening to this setup. I want to share my observations and reviews on them.
Starting from PS 165, I must say the tweeters are breathtaking as described by the Cheetah that they are very natural clean sounding and vibrant. I will describe them as âKanun main Ras Ghool Deyâ.
The signal attenuation from x overs of tweets is not much required. I set mine to 0. Well if I switch it to -3db or -6db, it takes some notes away from tweeters and the music feels like laid back music :).
The cut off points on x overs are 1-2-3 and still I am trying to figure the points that what frequencies are cut off on these points. I have set mine to point 3 as it feels more effervescent and vibrant there.
The Mid Bass driver is no doubt the state of the art driver, I havenât pushed it hard as for the reason to be still in break in period but I assume the coils may have settled down now and the surround and cone have adapted to the new temperatures.
The sound is very punchy and tight (I donât know if it is the right word) and can easily play notes of 50hz. The doors are not rattling at the moment but I will dynamite them very soon.
The 690 CVX Polyglass are way too good than my expectations. They can go loud with clarity like anything. The voice notes are crystal and lucid and the bass is very good (Not better than 718

he 12db/ octave x over is constructed using polypropylene capacitors for an extreme dynamic and neutral sound. The most amazing thing is a rotating swivel mounted aluminum inverted dome and I have adjusted them for cross diagonal direction.
I bought Pioneer 8450 BT because of few reasons. My windows are tinted and it was difficult for me to reverse at night time. 2ndly I wanted some Video playbacks whilst on the move with good SQ. After discussion and encouragement from senior members I opted for 8450Bt.
It is good I mean quite well but there is a problem I see in it.
SQ is not up to the mark as compared with P90, P80, P99 stuff.
It only plays DVDâs and DIVx, if u do convert your videos using AVS or Xilosoft, then certain parameters should be observed. i.e. Frame rate 25ps, 1280*720p, 12000K bps, if u deviate from these then it will simply not play.
Jpeg in Kbâs can be viewed only, doesnât read file larger than that.
Separate HPF for Rear Channel is not available.
I wish it had the parametric EQ.
Now the amplification:
Sound Stream Ref needs no intro, quite exceptional.
Gm 7500 putting out clean rms to W257.
W257 doing more than great job in a 0.8 cft sealed enclosure and its playing very clean.
Elite RCAâs look quite good and I hope they are doing their job exceptionally well; there is no way for me to measure their performance.
Sorry for the long post, but I also want to mention that the some notes which D series were playing are exactly same, no difference at all. I wonder if that is because of break in period or tuning.
And the staging is not as good at the moment as it was before in my previous setup. I had mounted 2 mid ranges on pillars which I forgot to post in my previous setup.
Contribution on these observations from senior Audiophiles is highly requested as I want to fully understand these French
