Well my first impression with focals to be honest was "not impressive". Actually i had different expectations from them. I was used to listening my merc well equalized system with highly beefy mids but when i listening to focals for the first time there was no bass at all. I was pretty upset but i knew i couldn't go wrong with focals.
I changed my stock clarion HU to 4350DVD and with better customization of EQ and HPF/LPF settings, gradually the bass improved. Once i felt they already break in, I put HPF for speakers to 50 and volla the front staging was much better and i could feel the bass in front of me, though still needs to be further up. I put xover to min and gradually moved up as ur ears tune to high frequencies.
As for now i feel SQ is still not like i wanted it to be. The reason is obviously the HU which i will change soon. My front Access also i plan to change to ps165 or mayb krx2 as i don have a processor and don wana go for 3 way active for now.
