Route Information Islamabad-Dunyapur (Khanewal)

Dear Pakwheelers this weekend I need to go to Dunyapur (on the Khanewal-Lodhran Road). I have recognized four potential routes.Kindly advice me the best route.

1 - Islamabad - Lahore - Khanewal - Dunyapur.
Of course this is the most safe and best road wise and I have already traveled on this one but it is long.....

2 - Islamabad - Faisalabad - Jhang - Kabirwala - Khanewal - Dunyapur

3 - Islamabad - Pindi Bhattian - Chiniot - Jhang - Kabirwala - Khanewal - Dunyapur

4 - Islamabad - Kallar Kahar - Khushab - Jauharabad - 18 Hazari - Malumor - Kabirwala - Khanewal - Dunyapur

Which route should I follow which has good road condition and less time and safer?

Check this route(i hv been through this route )
Islamabad - Faisalabad - Gojra -Toba - Kmalia - Chichawatni - Khanewal -Dunyapur (road is excellent use Bypass of Faisalabad, Gojra, Toba and Kamalia, if travells in day)
You can adopt your 2nd option also . it is daewoo route.

@imarshad bro ur 2nd route is best of all n safe... but the route mentioned above by Mr.usman_ahmed1 is even 5-10 % better then ur 2nd route....

i also travel to multan and dunya pur i travel mostly by route 3 .but route 2 is also ok

OK thanks for the reply.... So I guess I will take route No. 3 as most of you are suggesting this route....
Can someone describe the road condition from Pindi Bhattian - Chinniot - Jhang - Kabirwala - Khanewal?

and also from Khanewal should I take the bypass or go through Multan? The last time I travelled through Khanewal bypass way back in 2003 the Khanewal - Dunyapur - Lodhran road was single and had high loads of heavy traffic.

Islamabad - Kallar Kahar - Khushab - Jahurabad - Chashma Atom-Plant- Mari Shah Sakhira - 18 Hazari - Malumor - Kabirwala - Khanewal - Dunyapur

I travelled twice on this route. CNG are available in Jahurabad Khushab, and next CNG will me Malumor and in Kabirwala.

Road condition is good. but from Jahurabad to Malumor few Km u will drive on petrol. secondly in evening and early morning U will facing 18 and 20 wheeler as well on road. Problem when they do racing and over-taking same as Mianwali- Muzaffargarh Rd (MM Rd).

I have done some research regarding the distances (On google earth) and following is a summary (Accuracy might be somewhere between 10-20KM)
Islamabad - Pindi Bhattian - Chiniot - Jhang - Malumor - Kabirwala - Khanewal is 500KM

Islamabad - Faisalabad - Jhang - Malumor - Kabirwala - Khanewal is 530KM

Islamabad - Kallar Kahar - Khushab - Jauharabad - Malumor - Kabirwala - Khanewal is 440KM

Islamabad - Lahore - Khanewal is 640KM

I think I will decide tomorrow morning about the final path when I will hit the road. But it will most probably be either via Khushab or Chiniot.....

Oh I see then U distance will be more shorter if U use Jhelum River Ferry near Mari Shah Shakaira Area.
New adventure to use ferry for ur motor Vehicle. I heard Toyota Helix are loaded on that ferry as well.

iam planning a trip from KHI TO ISB i was going to start a new thread but i got all my ans here from khanewal to isb 440k this is the best route i think. any short cuts from khi to khanewal.

This route-3 is best and shortest... Road is also excellant. But in case you are travalling in night.. Its better that you adopt route-2 i.e. via Faisalabad. And don't use faisalabad by pass in night (I think its not safe in night) . I have been there in 2007. The bypass road condition was very poor.

Buses are taking 7 hours on this route... Multan to Pindi... out of which 3 hours are on motorway. Daewoo Multan-Pindi use route-3 in day and route-2 in night.

You can bypass multan by taking direct road to Lodhran/Bahawalpur from Khanewal.

I am back after a successful trip of Multan/Dunyapur. I took route no 4 and boy it was an excellent option.
Islamabad - Kallar Kahar - Pail...
Excellent road condition and very enjoyable.

Pail - Katha - Khushab - Jauharabad...
The only drawback of this route is the Pail-Katha section. It is about 20KM and the road is wide but there are many turns and switchbacks on this road and it seems like you are coming down from Murree from the old road. Katha to Khushab to Jauharabad road is excellent.

Jauharabad - Girot Mor - Athara Hazari...
This road was the highlight of our tour.... The road is not so wide but there is very low traffic on this road specially after Girot Mor. The 130KM or so were done in about 1 hour and our average speed was about 130-140KM/HR.
Athara Hazari - Head Trimoon - Malhu More...
This was also a good road and there are lots of Fish Shops at the headworks where they give fresh caught fish from the river.

Malhu More- Sharaqpur - Kabirwala - Khanewal/Multan...
The road is good and wide but the traffic load is very high.

With 3/4 stops of roughly 10-15 min. each we reached Kabirwala in about 6 hours. Had we come non-stop we could have reached Multan in 6 hours.

The Jauharabad - Athara Hazari patch.
Very very enjoyable for driving. Although one should not take this route at night as the sand covers upto 50% of the road at some places and one can lose the road and enter sand.

Well the actual distance was 480KM while traveling on this route.
While via Faisalabad it is 520KM

You can bypass multan by taking direct road to Lodhran/Bahawalpur from Khanewal.
