RPM's Drop when accelerating, Vitz 2008

So i am suddenly having this issue with my 2008 VITZ, that when i press the gas pedal hard to accelerate fast from idle, the engine RPMs drop and the car doesn't accelerate, the engine sort of dies without cutting out entirely. same is when going up steep slope, the RPM's die down and the car almost stops going uphill. what could be the issue. i have recently changed the engine oil, cleaned the throttle body but no improvement.

The car can get to high speeds on a soft pedal but when you demand sudden acceleration the car just makes a lot of noise but doesn't go any faster its like there just isn't enough power, although the car does a little better on the "SPORT"/S Gear

thats what i am planning to do, all the symptoms suggest towards an issue with fuel system, its either the fuel pump or the injectors. i'll update after cleaning the injectors.

2nd Gen Vitz doesn't accelerate the way you want. It drives the way it wants. That's how it is made.

And its not very good at pickup. It speeds up gradually.

For better acceleration simply get new plugs throttle cleaning and a new airfilter. Don't fiddle with anything unnecessary.

No, i have had this car for nearly two years. i am familiar with how it drives. but it has never been like this, the problem only started recently and like i said the issue is severe that even with a moderate load the car almost stops going up steep hills, the RPM's just die down then i turn off the AC and the car JUST barely makes it over the slope (coming out of a basement parking). overall the engine was perfect and powerful until this issue.

Then probably your cars catalytic converter is choked. Because you are referring that it takes time but gets into speed.

Get it checked from a cylinder guy who you thing is reliable. Also if you get it cleaned try getting it changed not cleaned source a used one from scrap and replace it.

Breaking it would cause very bad noise from your car

I should have probably mentioned it in the original post. i had a choked CAT and i replaced it with another used one, and it was in great condition. And this was around some 15000 km's ago. I doubt it would choke up again that fast. i plan to manually clean the fuel injectors, no harm in it i guess. I am hopeful that this will solve the issue. Because when i removed and cleaned the throttle body last week, there was a lot of buildup inside the intake manifold so the fuel injectors would also be that dirty, I try to maintain the car regularly but the fuel injectors are something i have overlooked since i got the car.

First check pump pressure it will cost 100 pr 200.then go for injector ultrasonic cleaning.

It's most likely the fuel pump. Have it checked,

Tip: if you want to prolong the life of your fuel pump, never start the car without petrol in it. The pterol lubricates and sort of cools the fuel pump.

Always use fuel system / fuel injector cleaner may be whenever you feel loss of power or may be after 3000k roughly. Get Gumout, Liquimoli (american/german brand) or any good fuel injector cleaner. Read instructions. Near empty tank, put it in and full the tank. Try to always keep your tank atleast quarter filled
