I have this system Sharp XL-12 laying around since 1999 and just discovered it from my junk store. Speakers of this are in great condition still so I connected them to rear speaker wires of my Cultus. I have normal chinese HU with 4" Sony speaker at front and default Automate speakers at rear. Now after connecting these speaker at rear I feel sound quality has improved almost 100 times and they have crisp vocals with v.good punchy bass and nice treble.
I have hear from few members that running 6 ohm speakers on 4 ohm output of car HU without amp can harm HU as its amp will struggle to fulfill requirements of speakers and speakers will also run on low output.
However many websites mention its safe.
Can someone please confirm what is the real case? Below are images of speakers
