Running Foreign Registration Number?

Lets say if i import a German Registered car, how long can i run the german plates before i would have to re-register the car to Paki Plates. Is there any time limit? Or should the registration number be changed as soon as the car is cleared out of customs?

Driving any other country's plates is considered here to be as an unregistered vehicle only for those who pass through Pakistan by entring one border and exit from other but for that they are only permitted to stay in Pakistan for a stipulated time period.

Officially I think u have to register the vehicle as soon as possible but unofficially u can run the foreign plates as long as u want until u get in some serious trouble with the police. u can get out of that too if u bribe the police!

first off all the German shud have had removed thoose plates, it baad on his side,

secondly its considered as a unregisterd car in Pakistan

The German will not remove the plates as the car is registered in Germany on a company's name and the owner of that company wants to import the car here.

No need to give bribe bro, rather then giving bribe one can get a permit (if able to) from the Governor or the Chief Minister to run the car on German Plates. But that is not the point. Just want to know the exact law.

Depends on how you brought the car. I was pointing towards Carnatte de passage or scheme some thing like it

whats so hard about the word registration? it means that ur car shud have a record in the local system

So if ure driving it without a record in the country its illegal, simple as that.

Legaly speaking
In Pakistan u need to have Pakistani number plates to drive your car legally, so that incase the cars get stolen a complete record is present.

if ure a foriegn national (FN) number plates can be issued. after going thru the process.

Illegaly speaking

Drive it jub tak dill kare. German or any other number plates not specified by Goverment of Pakistan are considered Fancy or Illegal number plates.

Even embassies are issued with CC (red colord) numbers there not allowed to drive cars with other countries number plates.

If in any case for security reasons they might use illegal plates but for that they have issued NOC (no objection certificates)

People driving with such plates have either orignal plates at home or in the Boot or are driving illegaly/ Unregistered cars.

if you are foreign national and visiting pakistan by road,car will be stamped on your passport at the port of entry.you can stay up to one year with foreign plate after that you need to exit with car or have to pay custom and duty according to rules and regulation that apply to other.but make sure that when u will enter turkey border u have to pay full custom and duty and will be reimborsed at the exit port but its lengthy process there and in these days its not safe to travel by road from iran either.last but not the least its not worth it bro!!
