Rupal BC & Minimarg June 2023

Dear Guru's

Our friends group is planning a trip to Rupal Base Camp (Tarishing Valley) and Minimarg from Islamabad, need help with following questions:

1. We want to camp for a night at the base camp - where do we arrange the porter and camping gear from for one night?
2. How much time will it take from Tarishing to Minimarg and can sedan go beyond Chilam Chowki?
3. Where can we stay nearby if we visit Minimarg? (don't have the option of Army rest house)
4. Can we reach Naran if we leave Minimarg in the morning? Or should we stay at Chilas at night?

Tentative Itinerary:

Day 0: Leave Islamabad around 11pm
Day 1: Islamabad - Naran - Babusar - Tarishing | Night Stay at Rupal Hotel Tarishing
Day 2: Jeep + Hike to Base Camp | Night stay in camps at BC
Day 3: Base Camp - Tarishing - Minimarg | Night Stay ???
Day 4: Minimarg - Babusar - Naran | Night Stay in Chilas/Naran
Day 5: Naran - Islamabad

Very informative video, it seems that even small cars can go up to tarishing

1. There is usually a seasonal camp setup on Tarishing side of Glacier which can be used unless you are planning to stay at Herrligkoffer base camp. Porters can be arranged from both Tarishing and Rupal valley.

2. Should take 12+ hours from Tarishing to Minimarg. Sedans were not allowed beyond Chilam Chowki and not a good idea to take one to Minimarg.

3. There are some hotel options (De Jani Resorts, Chasma Hotel) well before Chilam Chowki. There was no good place to stay at Chilam.

4. If you leave very early you can try to reach Naran. Take final decision on travel day considering where you are at Sunset. Chilas has reasonable places to stay.

You itinerary is very challenging and you might not be able to do it in 5 days.

I would not call it a tour it’s only travel in vehicle.

if you are reaching minimarg in night and leaving from minimarg on next morning then better not to travel minimarg..you should stay place like minimarg for atleast two days

Thank you everyone for the guidance. We have dropped Minimarg and only focusing on Rupal.

We want to camp at the Herligkoffer base camp, is it safe to arrive there with a porter and use the camp/facilities there or arrange the camping and food for the night there from tarishing?

Day 1: Too much tiring and hectic travel plan. Yes this is only TRAVEL plan....
Distance between ISB to Tarishing is 12/13 hours (526km-accrding to google map) travel time and not possible unless you just drive drive & drive ! (i will suggest stay at batakundi)
Day 2 is okay if camps are available and hiking time is almost 3 / 4 hours. (contact # 0355-5075051 Mr. Zain)
Day 3 not possible if you are not having prior booking in Minimarg (in camp village # 0355-4273393 Mr. Naqi Pasha) for stay and just drive drive drive & drive !!! almost 8 / 10 hours
Day 4 not possible unless you just drive drive drive & drive for 13 + hours (580km)
Day 5 is the best Plan

I am hoping "you will have a good tour if you expand 4 or 5 more days"
We visited in June 2022 same places including Astore.
