RX8 Rotary Engine LIFE

Salams All!

Is it true that an RX8 Rotary engine will only last for 100K miles and then needs over haul or replacement. Is there any official reference to this from MAZDA as well.

I would be really obliged if someone could share the information and give their comments on this.

nope a myth created by ppl who misused there cars and trashed them if a rx8 kept nicely would last long then yaa would imagine just its main fault is u need to change oil often then the a normal car!!

time to shut up every kid who thinks rotary engines are disposable. images below are of genuine engine. not rebuilt. and since these cars are abroad the reading are in miles!

if u plan to buy a rx8
dont put synthetic oil in it. use mineral(preferably thick) oil. change oil every 2000 kms. and if u change the plugs, but the proper lead and trail mazda plugs

@umerasif, i personally like rx8s, if u like speed then no, cuz its not a fast car, pretty much torque less, yes unless ur willing to throw in a turbo, then ull be talking, otherwise id recommend a 350z

otherwise thats all BS that it doesnt last, a friend of mine owned a 6 spd rx8 and drove it everyday to school, abused it on weekends, really abused it! and it lasted perfectly fine, now its in a happy home in karachi

Well would have loved a 350Z but I would rather throw in a turbo on a 8.

Plus point of the RX8 for me: Back seats large enough to fit a car seat. I have a 2 & 1/2 years daughter who is as thrilled about the 8 as I am and loves it. So cant have a car that isn't safe for her as well and the rear doors on the 8 are a stroke of genius

Besides I love the shape of the 8, have been in love with the curves ever since they launched in 2003.

One last thing is that I can handle the maintenance and fuel of the 8 with ease but cant spend as much money initially as required for the 350Z

well rx8 is a really nice car though i dnt know the details.:Di just love the shape,nd the interior.

Rotary engine in Rx-7 had a solid life of
"40-60K miles"
but in Rx-8 it's improved by miles! (Y)

its so nice to see , that people really take car of their rotary engines ,
well rotary engine is not unreliable , its just that they need extra love and care ,
just change the oil , and as mentioned above do not put synthetic oil , use non synthetic oil , check your coolant levels as rotary engine does like to get overheated ,
