Not as bad as you make it sound. But driving is a 100% alertness job unlike any other job where you can take a break e.g. in any office I see people casually gossiping and reading funny emails after 20-30 min of activity. Yet in driving you can't let down the alertness even for a millisecond. And when the drivers are pressurized doing 7-8 hours or upto 60-70 hours of continuous driving without any sleep or loo breaks and eating on the wheel they just crack up and want to die and to kill others. There are many youtube videos in which longhaul drivers went mad and had to be actually shot to death in order to make them stop, otherwise they were mowing and killing everything that came at them. Countries such as UAE and Australia have tackled this by making compulsory breaks for drivers and regulating the transport companies too.
I agree-- but insist that the person driving a public service or cargo vehicle should be educated to some extent and properly trained. He (or she) should periodically appear before physical and psychological examinations.
Be sure to get a fresh import. An unadulterated one will have only 4 rows of seats (capacity for 11), more leg room, less km on the odo and more entertainment options for the passengers. Buy a low roof (will be easier in low hung trees and barricades). You can have a look at the APV too. They are popular nowadays with transporters and commuters alike.
I saw a Toyota Hiace-- with only six seats - Two front and four at the back. The cabin seats could be tilted to make a limousine setup. Hot/cold box with coffee and ice makers. 2.4L EFI Diesel engine. Electronic curtains, Dual air-conditioning and heating, electronically operated side door, electronic curtains, moon roofs over each seat. Really loved it.
I don't know why but unable to move APV to my good books
OMG what effect is this thread having on people?
