Just curious. If your vehicle's number plate is visible to everyone on the road, then why to hide, deface it here? It is not supposed to be secretive as it is meant to be displayed prominently.
If people are so concerned about privacy they should not bother about getting VIP or Golden Numbers for their license plates because these are easy to remember. In case some one is discreet, he would be in trouble as his friends, relatives, colleagues would spot his car without any difficulty.
I tell you my personal example. I went for registration of my car and the guy their asked me sir which number do you want (as I was known to some people who matter there) and I said give me any number which I even cannot remember and he looked at me in astonishment and thought I was joking. But when I told him I am not bothered, he said that he has seen in his life for the first time a person not demanding any "good" number despite connections.
When I told the reason that you cannot hide with a "good" number all the time, he understood.
