It's still a credit to the tuners and owners of four and six-cylinder turbo Japanese cars that they can hang with or out-accelerate a 5-litre V10 premium German sedan.
The EVO and WRX were designed for broken roads and rally tracks. An M5 would be out of its element in those kinds of conditions. If anything, a drag race is to the M5's advantage. Its 0-100 mph time takes some beating.
Obviously, stock for stock, nothing this side of the odd FQ400, GTR, or IS-F can beat an M5.
