This is insane. Why would anyone be stupid enough to buy a Hyundai at this price? I was looking forward to a well priced Tuscon, but this pricing makes me think that too will be priced around 10 million, whenever its launched. Way to make people lose interest Hyundai.

The price is exorbitant to say the least. In this price the options are almost unlimited, hope this is not a deal breaker for Hyundai in the Pakistan market. Ideally they should have some in with a more affordable cars in the beginning to make a mark. I wish them luck though.

Nishat Pakistan are going way overboard. Good car however it's not a renowned luxury brand; its a Hyundai a sister company of KIA. Around the globe KIA and Hyundai tried to enter the luxury segment with their numerous models but could not attract consumers in those segments. EU, US and Middle East are prime examples, I've been personally following their models.
As for Santa Fe its a mid range SUV else where in the world however it Pakistan its being marketed as a premium top of the line SUV, at least that's what it seems looking at the price which is beyond apprehension.
Additionally KIA and Hyundai cars are flashy, decked with functions/gadgets but these are not very durable. In reliability they are better than German cars however their ruggedness and durability is not compared to Japanese. On a scale to 1-10 if Japanese are at 9 then Korean are at 5. This is the reason they are mostly referred as value for money products in the auto market. Chinese are in the lower bracket. The only thing they offer is least price (Generally Speaking).
Coming Back to Nishat and Santa Fe, this is a short term stunt. They most probably want to sell a certain number of pieces of this machine and will be comfortable with making handsome money. The other reason is to show to general public that Hyundai is not a cheap car it can produce high tech luxury too.
As for the question who will buy it at this price. There are plenty of people in our country who have not so hard earned money, who want to look different (stupid at times), they will buy it.

Luxury and you are talking about only two airbags and no driving assist or aids. That is cheap even the latest locally assembled Fortuner has 3 Airbags

Hyundai Santa Fe at such a price tag? I hope sanity will prevail and the error is rectified soon or that is a goodbye from Pakistani market! At this exorbitant price I would call myself a fool to buy a Korean brand instead of used Range Rover, Land Cruiser or Porsche Cayenne.

Seems Hyundai wants to repeat history in shape of closing the industry once again.....I wonder KIa and Hyundai are known worldwide to make vehicles for middle men but here the condition are totally opposite.....they launched super cars with super prices tags on them......and trying make .......who is going to buy 1.9 Million Rs ........ Very limited! Think wisely Hyundai and KIa to earn profits while meeting the needs of a common man.....An advice btw...

It's a good review but if the expected price tags mentioned here are correct, then this car stands no chance to be purchased or earn any status in Pakistan. Toyota Fortuner is a better option which is available under 7 million pkr. This price tag for this car would be an absolute waste of money.

Yet another factor that needs to be discussed on this forum is.....rather than to give a tough competiton to existing companies in Pakistan 🇵🇰.....Hyundai and Kia are paving their ways to excel their business in the hindsight......Look at Fortuner and Santa Fe...the preceding looks real SUV and one can buy three at the price of one Santa Fe ( if u include registration etc etc inSanta ‘s price)...... where u heading to KIa and Hyundai..?

Fortuner is nothing but a decorated pickup truck over a ladder frame chassis.
Real SUVs have a monocoque body structure like a passenger car which is the case with Santa Fe.

Calling a Fortuner an SUV is a joke!

Before writing any blog you should have knowledge of the compounded customs duty structure and taxes levied at the time of import. It seems you have jumped the gun.

For your information, an SUV with an engine capacity of more than 1800 cc is levied a compounded 300% duties and taxes.

Another assumption in your statement which is totally misleading for the readers is that you have assumed that the importer has imported these vehicles at a concessionary duty which is certainly not the case.

Concessionary duty is only allowed by the Govt. on those vehicles for which local distributor has signed a Technical License Agreement with its foreign principal. Since Nishat has not announced any plans so far to launch Santa Fe in CKD condition, your allegation is nothing but a figment of your imagination with a malafied intent.

Kindly do some research in Pakistan before uploading such comments while sitting in USA.

CRV was priced and launched when the USD was PKR 105 now it is PKR 140.

I knew it once i read this wonderful piece of wisdom. This guy used the exact same wording one of their company heads used at the digital showroom launch.
Salute to him for not considering the fortuner an SUV. He's right. Santa fe is the real suv while Fortuner is just a crossover. Facts.
Btw, that same Head opined that the santa fe's competitors were Land cruiser Prado(XD) and Pajero(?!?). Such is the level of their market awareness. I'm sure he thinks CRV is the name of a malaria vaccine.

Maybe this is too early to say but i was more excited for Hyundai's return as compared to Kia but Kia Lucky has been operating way more professionally than Nishat. Disappointing, to say the least.

And by the way let's take your word for it and assume that FORTUNER IS NOT AN SUV based on your reasoning that it is a ladder frame/body on frame chassis. By that logic the following list of automobiles are NOT SUVS since they are all body on frame vehicles:
