Dear all,
I drive a Santro Club 05 with 120k on the ODO. I got the engine overhauled from Hyundai 3S at 100K. The car was on CNG but I drove it often on petrol. I recently got rid of the CNG kit and now its been on petrol for approx 10k kms.
I have recently had the following issues:
- An untraceable smell of fuel leaking somewhere, I am unable to find the source
- The fuel gauge used to go to 'E' when ignition was off. The gauge used to be active only when the ignition was ON. Now the needle remains at the last position even after ignition is off, key out
- The mileage and throttle response has reduced considerably (TB servicing and a new TPS helped with the acceleration bit)
- I see black soot lining my exhaust pipe and on the first start the exhaust spits black soot with water
I have the following questions:
Could this be a case of clogged fuel injectors?
1.If yes, then should I first get the tank cleaned, lines checked and fuel pump changed, followed by STP injector cleaner additive?
Would it be advisable to remove the injectors and clean them with carb-cleaner? (I have heard ultrasonic cleaning works best)
Do I need to replace the injectors?
I would be super thankful for your guidance. Especially Xulfiqar Bhai, he's the Santro doc
