Guys,
Santro Exec 2004 Isb, problems appeared and visited FAW motors for a check up and they gave me a long list of items to buy, have already bought it ~ 25k and labour they have asked is 4500 (timing belt, bearing, fan belt and generator belt), 7500 (rest of the work) + 2500 for sublet.
I dont want to do fazool ka kaam and hence the post.
The problems:
- On 4th gear 40km/hr and above the car vibrates / rattles noticeably, none on 3rd at 40 kms/hr and none if I put in neutral and cruise. The rattling doesnt go away even at 60 nor when I move to 5th but in all instances in neutral is does.
- I hit a pot hole and to me it seems the car is slightly tilted but may have been my observation, the mechanic did not notice.
- Front right wheel sideways movement - from online videos I understand its the tie rod to blame.

Advice required:
- How do I know the work done is required? E.g he mentioned that timing belt is old and should be replaced, I am okay with that but would like to inspect the old belt and verify for myself.
- How do I know the work done is reliable?
- Are the labor charges justified?
Do not know much about cars and the topic may have been misleading, apologies.
Thanks
