I think as Umair suggested, a decent LC80 seems like the best option considering availability and ease of acquiring one. No comparison to a 105, but that's too much hassle to buy and the budget is limited.
However he got me dreaming about the 1vd engine. How easy is it to get one? Approx. cost and how difficult is it to swap one into the 80's bay? I agree with Umair, the "ustaads" around here are a handful to deal with.
Besides the 1vd, what turbo diesel would you recommend? Looking for higher torque and better high elevation performance.
Also, what model years of LC80 are the preferred ones for such a project? Any known issues to check when buying? How do the differentials work? Lockable? Elec or mech.?
