lol @ resale. What i see are people who don't like the idea of surviving. What if an import broke down and needed some mechanical repairs? i know the counter argument is that "they dont break down". You seriously think our mechanics are educated when it comes to cars? They do only work based on what they learn. Getting the repair part + finding a mechanic who knows how your "xyz" import car works is not practical for the everyday man.
Plus who says resale is not important; COME ON. What ever you buy is a financial asset. Things with a high resale serve as a "deposit" for you. What if you want to upgrade your import to get a better car? What if your import stop giving you "pleasure", what then? Will you want to hang with it all your life? I for one dont have the luxury of spending 10 lakh on something and if need be, selling it for 6-7 lakh a year later. Nor do i have the luxury of spending time trying to find an able mechanic who can fix problems in an engine which normal mechanics do not understand.
And the counter argument to this is that high amount of imports will cause mechanics to learn things and parts to become readily available. Well then, what really is the point of industry in Pakistan then? Do you people even know how a nation develops? BY THEIR FOREIGN RESERVES...period.
Of course the best thing is that the local cars get either cheaper, or better. If you own Suzuki (the company, not a single car) and have such a high rate of sale, why would you do any change? Its an experiment that no company can afford. People are crying about car prices; with better quality, imagine how high the prices will get.
And the counter argument is to buy imports so that Suzuki's rate of sale decreases. Then what? The industry will collapse and Suzuki will move out of Pakistan because they are not making revenue.
And the car prices here are quite high, but the bottom line is that you cannot decrease them so much. I ask you people, how can that happen? The government subsidizes the price? Are you kidding me, the government can dish out barely enough to keep the roads operational.
Vitz is a good car, but i would still buy a Honda City 2000-2003 for like 5-6 lakh (in case any one is selling, so PM me
)
And i was very happy with the launch of Revo. Though i have no idea about this car, but still it is a pure Pakistani car. A "local hero", a term of textbooks.
Well i myself have lost track now of what im trying to say lol. But still again, this thread is a disgust...and i myself dont like local cars so much and would Somehow want their quality to improve AND the prices to drop ( i too have a right to dream, aint i? but then i also dream of load shedding stopping and petrol prices going down
)
