Seeking Affordable & Efficient Mechanic, Denting/Painting Specialist for 2005 Corolla XLI

I'm reaching out for advice on finding reliable, affordable, and efficient professionals to work on my 2005 Toyota Corolla XLI. I've recently sold the car to a friend, and as part of the deal, I've committed to ensuring the car is in good condition.

The car needs some work, specifically:

• Mechanical jobs: The engine is making a crank sound at 2500 RPM, manifold sound, oil reduction, and weird noises. It's possible that the engine needs an overhaul. I'm looking for a cost-effective solution to repair the existing engine, rather than replacing it. I believe in repairing mechanical parts rather than replacing them.
• Denting and Painting: The car has dents, scratches, and some rusty parts that need to be addressed. I'm looking for economical denting and painting services that offer fine quality work, not excellent but not bad either.

I'm looking for professionals who can do their respective jobs efficiently, effectively, and within a nominal budget. Ideally, I'd prefer to find a one-stop-shop where all three jobs (mechanical, denting, and painting) can be done under one roof if possible otherwise I can go to all three different people.

Time is of the essence; I need the job done as soon as possible. I don't have months to spare, so I'm looking for someone who can complete the work quickly without compromising on quality.

Please note that I'm on a tight budget, and I'd appreciate recommendations for affordable mechanics and workshops. I've had experiences in the past where people have recommended expensive mechanics, only to be quoted sky-high prices. I'm looking for someone who can provide quality work at a reasonable price.

My budget for the work is not much wishing to get all in least budget. How did you conclude this, that he is expensive? Is he charging you 1lac labour for engine overhaul mechanical labour or charging you 200k for denting labour?

He must have told you the quotes of high quality job.

Bro few days back I took estimate from him on the call and i dont remember the exact figures but he quoted me something between 250,000 to 300,000. So this is how I consider him too expensive.

He might be a competent professional, but his prices are steep. I mean, a good head assembly from Bilalganj wouldn't cost more than 2 lakh rupees. So, why opt for an overhaul? From my experience, once an engine is overhauled, the charm is gone, and the ride isn't enjoyable anymore. People usually go for overhauls as a cost-effective solution, not because it's expensive. So, chill out, bro!

It's better to get work done from a professional rather than seeking cheap work. I learned this the hard way when i was restoring my old mira. Spend good money once and take good care of the car rather then visiting the workshop every month.

Yes bro agree with you but the thing is i m selling this car so not willing much to spend a lot just want this to be in good shape and smooth running. If had to kept this then would definitely land up with quality things.

First of all, i am asking you basic questions just to ask you what was the estimate about and why did you feel it expensive?

Thirdly do not bad mouth about anyone for no reason.
If you don't want to get the work done from @syncview it's your choice. You can discuss with us or do what you like to do. No one can push you for anything bro.
And never challenge someone's quality of work just due to price...

And putting in a used engine, you have zero information about how much it was abused or how long will it last. Whereas overhauling is using brand new parts and if engine build on factory specs, it has a very long life and good quality which can not be compared to used engine.

Regarding used engines Yes , I understand your point about the uncertainty. But, in my case, I had a positive experience with a used engine, driving over 200,000 kilometers without major issues.

On the other hand, my experiences with engine overhauls haven't been smooth. I've tried it in multiple cars, but it never seemed like a good decision.

sir @humza1 with due respect, your approach to resolve an issue before you sale vehicle is quiet amazing. however in respect of osama sb or dani_kk i can relate it to pandemic days.

During the COVID-19 period, it became quite common to discuss symptoms with doctors through online video calls. From my personal experience, particularly with a family member who is a doctor, I observed that doctors often recommended immediate symptomatic treatment along with a series of lab tests before making a final diagnosis and prescribing any medication.

So your case of estimation over phone call can be referred to, in that direction..
