Self Tunning - Khyber G-10 (Plugs, valve clearance, spark gap etc)

Today i started engine. Attached a vaccum pipe to secondry throtle v pod nd sucked. A lever behind pod moved but nothing happend. No change in rpm. Did same things with dashpot (having plunger in it) again no change in rpm. Did same wid chowk breaker but :-(. Any problem? what it shld do?

connect what you call daspot 1 (choke breaker) to nozzle 3
in pic 2 the hot idle compensator (rectangular thing on top back of the carb) is connected incorrectly to the distributor advance port connect it to your nozzle 4
in pic 2 the right vacuum pot (dashpot) should be connect to the vacant nozzle (as you say)

And what about secondary throtle vac pod, where ut will connect.l?

The secondary throttle will open the throttle plate when the throttle is more than 40% open, it actually has a locking gate in the mechanism, there would be no change at idle speed at all.

The dashpot has a slow release valve in the vacuum pipe, it works by "holding" the throttle open for a few moments after you have let go of the accelerator. You cannot test it at idle speed with your mouth. You need the slow release piece in the vacuum line for it to work.

The choke breaker is only activated when you start the engine with choke pulled out. It opens the choke plate slightly to let air in otherwise the engine will stall. Testing for rpm change is not valid on this item.

yes. according to factory setting when the top hat of the carb is inverted and the float is allowed to press the needle valve on its own wait the gap between the carb hat surface and float should be 7 mm. But with this the needle valve does not allow fuel to get in the float chamber.. I think either the float or needle valve is not oem.

Thats the only possibility I can think of too. Or your needle valve damping is bad, The valve has an internal spring system that keeps the float level correct when the car moves or tilts.

There is no problem.. they all do not work on idle engine.. on idle engine secondary throttle wont open unless the primary throttle is open more than 60 % there is a mechanism that stops the secondary to open before that. Choke breaker is to break choke and avoid engine to stall when ck=hoke is aplied. Dashpot is there to stop sudden decceration when you lift your foot of the throttle..

that big round thingy is a filter
when the svs is off you should be able to blow in from the left horizontal pipe (with ref to the picture) and out from the filter
no air should come out the vertical nozzle

once the svs is on you should be able to blow from the left nozzle in and out the vertical nozzle - no air should come out from the filter

if either case is bad you get a new svs

Yes its working exactly like that. But now, how to connect. Red filter in exhaust manifold had two ports to connect. Currently they are interconnected

The tiny spring mechanism is also there in the needle valve. it looks ok to me..

So now what Sir.. What do you say about the poor idling. should i increase the fuel level in the bowl or decrease it.. as i have no accurate means to fix it.. In current level settings some times it starts idling perfectly and then all of a sudden engien starts shutting down as soon as i take my foot off the gas pedal.. the smell of the exhaust also gets very pungent when idle gets messed up.

its the intake manifold.. one port of the intake vacuum filter is for ac idle up and other for the electrical load idle up

Distributior advance port has no vacuum on idle and vacuum on medium and high rpms ?

I think your float is compromised, did you slosh it around to check if petrol has leaked into it?

yes. you are correct.

No. I didnt sloshed it or the carb.. i did tapped the carb hat area around the fuel inlet with a spanner when the carb was fitted in the car and fuel was not going in to the float bowl.. i did that in suspision that the needle vlave has stuck and by doing that it may work..
also you might remember I recently placed a query about the Carb cleaner sprayed through the float vents disturbing the float level...
but nothing else.

Its been long since i last studied about the fundamentals of this carb. Might have forgotten all :(.

By the way, let me cut you in on a miracle that I was told about just yesterday. The Khyber I had (its still in family), got a new carb from a Yellow Cab Scheme Khyber. The car (Yellow Cab) was awaiting an accident claim since long and was driven on Petrol during its service life. No CNG. So the owner thought of striking a deal and help a fellow in need.

This new carb brought a new life to Khyber with Steady Idle and Responsiveness under load.

Guess the price??
